So, I actually manage to find out why Grimlock in RID2015 is different then the Dinobot we know that Shockwave experimented on.
The reason being, the producers actually had planed to put in the same Grimlock.
But then they changed their minds- seeing that Grimlocks past is too dark.
So when asked if the 2015RID Grimlock is a different Grimlock, they said yes. And that there are two Grimlocks now (two bots with the name of Grimlock- yet are different bots).
1) The Grimlock that is notorious for being the king of Dinobots
And
2) The kid friendly dinobot who is one of the main characters in 2015RID
