Love doesn't overwhelm you
in one tidal wave of
realisation.
It doesn't succumb you
like drowning in honey
or wrap around you
like a hug.
You can't simply understand
the complicated human nature.
There's so many things
we're not supposed to understand.
It's so we can explore ourselves
and others,
our bodies becoming maps
our minds becoming sunrises
that maybe there are other
things more important
that just love.
Love starts as scintilla
planted in your heart's core-
a seed, a sapling,
it needs nourishing.
Love is not simple.
Hate.
Hate can come crashing
Like a fork of
terrifying lightning.
And I hate you.
