Last Chance

The Zoo

They sat by each other, talking about the case and the team. "Do you think any of them know?" Hotch asked. "No, but they would talk about who it might be over and over." She laughed. "I'm just glad its me." she told him. "Me too." He pulled her into a kiss.

"JJ, I was thinking and I would like to take you and the boys to the zoo. What do you think?" "I love it! When do you want to go?" She asked excitedly. "After I get rid of my brace for my knee." "How long is that?" She wondered. "In one month exactly." He smiled and she agreed.

They went through a few cases and lots of paperwork by the time the month was over. Hotch went to the hospital and they cleared him for the field. It was Friday and he promised JJ and the boys they would go to the zoo on Saturday.

Today was the day, Henry and Jack jumped out of their beds and got dressed. They were so excited and they couldn't wait. After they were ready, they went to the couch and watched cartons tell the adults got up.

JJ woke up to the boys talking. She was sleeping on Hotch's chest because he was having one of his nightmares. She could tell by his breathing that he was still sleeping. She got up and got ready for the day. When she came out of the bathroom, he was still sleeping so she used plan B.

"Hey Jack, your dad is still sleeping. How about you and Henry go wake him up?" "Ok." They ran to the bed room and Jack jumped on the bed. Henry was soon after him. They counted down from ten, then jumped on him in unison.

"WAKE UP!" They yelled. Within minutes Hotch was up. He tried to fight off the tickle attack, but he failed. With in a few minutes, they were gone talking about the zoo. JJ walked in and smiled. "Good morning." "Morning JJ. Why were they so excited?" He was still half asleep. "You don't remember what today is?" She asked worriedly. "The zoo right?" "Yup, now we have some excited boys, so hurry up." She laughed and walked out.

They left the house. The boys started walking to JJ's car, but Hotch stopped them. "No boys were taking my car." They ran over and hopped in. Once they got there, they parked the car and Hotch paid for their tickets.

He grabbed a map. "Ok boys, where do you want to go first?" "Me and Henry decided all this last night." Jack said totally serious. "Ok Jack so where to first?" Hotch said happily. "Here." Jack pulled out a marker and wrote the route they wanted to go. He added the restaurant JJ wanted to go to and the shop Henry added at the last minute.

With their day planed, they headed to the tigers, lions, and zebras first. After that was the giraffes. Once Henry saw how tall they were, he wanted to be a giraffe. "Can I be a giraffe?" He asked. Before JJ could say anything, Hotch picked him up and placed him on his shoulders.

"Thanks Uncle Aaron." "No problem buddy." For most of the morning, Hotch had Henry on his shouders. They were at the last animal tell lunch, when JJ noticed Henry's eyes were closed. "Hotch, Henry's sleeping." "Ok." Hotch took him down from his shoulders and held him so Henry could have his head on his shoulder.

They were walking to the restaurant when Jack started to walk with his eyes closed. Hotch walked over and picked him up with his other hand. He now had both boys sleeping on his shoulders. JJ turned around and saw him with both of them.

"Aaron, do you need me to carry one of them?" She asked with a giggle. "No I'm fine." "Are you sure?" She asked smiling. "Yup." he smiled back. They got to the restaurant and it was full. They had to wait twenty minutes before they could sit down.

"We could go somewhere else." JJ suggested. "No, you wanted to eat here. Were going to eat here." He told her. "Ok. I'll get us signed in, if you want to sit down?" "I'll come with you." They walked in and got the buzzer that will tell them when their seat is ready.
