Light, cherry-colored hair, tied in a high ponytail, cascaded down the spine of the a 13-year-old pre-teen as she swayed to the notes in her mind.
Her thin, nimble fingers ran lightly across the white, ivory keys of her piano, before her right hand floated above 5 keys. 2 black, sharp keys and 3 white, naturals.
Pressing down on the keys, the girl played a simple tune, used for practicing as a beginner. 'Happy Birthday'.
She continued the quiet tune for a minute or so, repeating the easy notes until she felt like it was alright to end the song, before sighing.
With one last soft note, Sakurai Shirogane stood up from the wooden bench beside her grand piano and glanced at the shrine that held her father's picture and urn with incense burning on the side of the picture frame.
