When I pulled back the tarp, I was surprised to see that it was night time. I had been with Raven nearly the entire day. I hoped that they hadn't moved Bellamy into a more secure room, but I doubted that he was their biggest concern.
I slowly crossed the clearing and walked into the Ark, immediately branching off to my left. The chambers where they held us had been destroyed on impact, so they had moved the prisoners to the left wing of the Ark in a small room that could be sealed off by a metal gate.
When the gate came into view, I was surprised to see that there were no guards around, not even my father. I felt a tad disappointed that I couldn't see him, but we had all the time in the world for reunions. Right now, I needed to find Bellamy.
As I rounded the corner, the first thing I caught sight of was Murphy sitting against the wall, his face even more bloodied than when I last saw him inside the drop ship. His wrists were bound by a cable and were tied to a pipe beside him so he couldn't leave. Well, at least they had gotten one thing right so far.
I stopped walking at the sight of the locked gate. Shit, I didn't have the keys. I started to look around for something to pry the gate open with, and my eyes focused on a small closet just beside it. I limped forward and quietly pushed the door open, stepping inside the dark room. The electricity didn't work in the Ark yet, so I had to strain my eyes to look in the bins. My hands found a pair of bolt cutters, the only thing that would cut the lock, and I ducked out of the room before anyone could see.
Limping forward, I stopped in front of the metal gate and fumbled for the bolt cutters. I quietly cut the lock and yanked open the grate, a loud creak sounding as I did. The noise drew the attention of Murphy, who turned his head with wide eyes to see me entering the cell.
"Liv?" Bellamy's voice made me snap my head to the side to see him in the same position as Murphy. "What are you doing?"
I couldn't help the wide smile on my face as I hobbled over to him and knelt down despite the white hot pain in my chest. "What does it look like? I'm breaking you out of here." I used the bolt cutters to snap the cables that were around his wrist in half and tossed them to the side.
"Wait, what about me?" Murphy asked as Bellamy rose to his feet. For a moment, we all stared at one another in dead silence. We hadn't been together since Murphy's psycho side came out and he tried to kill the both of us. If we wanted to, we could kill him right here and now without him being able to stop us.
As if sensing my deranged thoughts, Bellamy squeezed my hand. "Let's get out of here."
I nodded and led the way as we left the cell. I didn't know where we would go, but all I knew was that we were safe for the time being.
I suddenly stopped walking and threw my arms around his shoulders, nearly knocking him into the wall behind him. "Don't ever do that again," I told him with a shaky voice.
"Do what?" He asked with confusion.
"Be a hero," I explained and pulled away, smacking him in the shoulder. "I thought you were dead! You should have gotten your ass on the drop ship instead of taking on Tristan."
He rubbed the spot on his shoulder where I had hit him. "Tristan wouldn't have stopped coming after us unless he was dead. I got away in time."
"If you pull that shit again, I'll shoot you myself," I warned with narrowed eyes. I probably seemed a little crazy threatening him, but I was going out of my mind thinking that he was dead.
"Has being crippled made you violent?" He teased, looking down at the way I was bent over and clutching on him for support.
I sent him a glare. "Oh shut up."
