"Kara! Welcome home!" Eric exclaimed, rubbing his hands on a napkin.

"Y-y-you.... h-ho-how? D-didn't I j-just s-see you d-d-die t-two days a-ago?" I panicked, pulling my shaking hands to my mouth.

He smiled brightly and chuckled.

"Of course you did! I also know that you heard my last words. Which is one of the main reasons I'm here. So, do you forgive me?"

He bent down and held out his pale hand to help me stand. I could do nothing but stare at it.

How was this possible? He died in my arms and yet he is standing here in front of me offering to help me stand up.

My trembling fingers crept towards his outstretched hand. This was Eric, my fiancé. The man who loved me unconditionally and who promised to never hurt me.

When my hand touched his-actually it should've touched his- it went through the hand.

I froze, this was not happening. I immediately pulled my hand back and stood up on my own.

"Y-you're a ghost. What are you doing in my home? Why can I see you? Aren't you supposed to cross over or something?" My stuttering soon stopped as I closed myself off from my fiancé.

He chucked again, but this time there was something masked beneath it. Something that sounded sinister and dangerous.

"You can see me because you miss me. I'm here because this is also MY home, Kara. Also, I have some thing I would like to take care of before I leave. If I ever want to leave at all." He took a step towards me, and I felt an urge to take a step back. "I'll ask you again. Do you forgive me Kara?"

I ignored his question. "What are the other reasons why you haven't left?" I asked folding my arms over my chest.

His eyes turned cold. He turned around and walked back to the stove to finish cooking whatever it was he was cooking. I warily walked in front of the fridge so I could see half of his face.

"What are you doing Eric?"

He smiled gently, but his eyes took on a crazy quality.

"I'm doing the other thing I needed to do, cook you your favorite meal for our anniversary. I was supposed to do it all week until then, starting today."

He grabbed a bowl and put two scoops of chili in it. When he turned to face me and hand me the bowl, his pupils shrunk to an impossibly small size.

I gently took the bowl from him and looked at it cautiously. I stirred it slowly and brought the spoon to my mouth. When I swallowed and nothing happened, I looked up at him.

He smile brightly. "Kara... Do you forgive me?"

I thought for a second and realized there wasn't anything that I could remember that I had to forgive him for.

I tilted my head. "What do you need to be forgiven for?"

His smile turned insane. Before I knew anything had happened, I felt immense pain right below my chest. I gazed down to see blood seeping through my shirt and dripping down my body.

I looked back up at him while I felt the world spinning. He was gazing at me lovingly, but his smile showed insanity.

"That." He said, watching my fall to the floor. The bowl shattered and caused a ringing in my ears. In front of my face was a bloody knife.

Eric bent down and attempted to brush my hair out of my face.

My world was going black, and Eric continued to smile at me.

"Now we can be together forever my love."

I wasn't awake when the doorbell rang.
