I timidly open the apartment door as it echoes in the seemingly empty room. Me and Jack depart to examine the room. It was.. Neat. The sofa has been repaired and symmetrically placed opposite of the TV. Papers are placed in ocd-friendly piles on a dusted desk.
"I thought you said this place was horrible. With weapons and stuff." Jack pondered a he caressed the wooden dinner table.
"It was.. It's like someone changed everything in here..."
"That'll be my handy work. It needed a human touch." The familiar caramel voice of Dark's opposite spoke. Jack and I turn to the origin, looking like dears in headlights, down the corridor to see Mark. In a fully fledged form. The shock to my system was quickly replaced with rage. Mark being able to walk and talk means Dark is gone. My Dark. I sprint to Mark and throw him into the wall.
"Where's Dark?! You taken over huh?! I want fucking Dark! I didn't go through all this stupid pain for him to be taken over by a shithead like you!" I rant as I put pressure onto his chest. Not enough to break his ribs.
"Just- just look!" He begs as he spastically points further down the corridor. There stood Dark, a cheeky grin spread across his face.
"You fucking asshole.." I cuss before tackling Dark in a hug. His cold body welcoming me to what I call home. Home is where the heart is and Dark took mine.
"I thought I lost you.." Dark chuckles lightly, sending shivers down my spine. I finally got to be with him, without Jack.
"Now you know how I feel." Dark jests as he spaces out our hug, still leaving his arms on my waist. He connects our foreheads and closes his eyes, and I think let's a tear slip.
"Is that a tear I see?" I giggle as my own eyes begin to water.
"No... It's just.... Allergies." He says with a convincing sniffle. "I'm allergic to loosing you for so long.." He smiles before opening his eyes and looking deep into mine with beautiful crimson. He always had the prettiest and most mesmerizing eyes. "Your mismatched eyes where always so adorable," he lets another tear slip. "I.. I..."
"Get a room love demons!" Mark called from the sofa, sitting next to Jack watching some stupid show.
"You let him redecorate your place?" I ask, returning all my attention to Dark. He laughs with the old flick of the eyes.
"Unwillingly." He confirms letting go of my body but holding my hand. "Are.. Are demons meant to feel this way?" Dark questions with an uncertain look.
"Feel in what way Darky?" I wonder as I rest my head on his broad shoulder.
"Love?" He replies as another tear falls. I turn towards him and hold his face in my hands. I wipe that sad-filled tear off his face and replace it with a kiss.
"Just because we are made of all bad things and live in the darkness doesn't mean we can't feel love. Some authors say love is a spell and a curse." I quote as I rest my hands of Dark's shoulders.
"How is it a spell and a curse?" He asks as he looks into my odd eyes.
"A spell because it leaves an amazing feeling that you never want to leave. A curse because when your departed it feels as if your heart has been frozen in the past. To never beat until you see your love once again." I clarify. "Does that make perfect sense?"
"Yes." He states firmly with a delicate smile.
"How do you feel now?" I ask with a sense of fear. Maybe of rejection? Whatever it is it's got my stomach in a knot.
"Love." He says wholeheartedly as he connects our lips.
