My Life As a Black Man

Chapter 2

I ran into my office and opened the cover to my Macbook Pro, I waited for it to turn on and then I opened Safari. I typed in the words, I turned black overnight. 

"Anything?" My wife asked worriedly behind me

"No, just stuff about skin tags turning black." I sighed

"We should go to a doctor or something." Annabeth suggested

"It's six in the morning, Dr.Chase won't be in until at least ten."

"We'll wait until then, keep looking for anything helpful." 

We spent the next hour searching every website and link. When I say every I mean every  website. I let out a sigh of defeat and leaned back in my chair. I combed my hair, now an afro, back with my hands. My hands came across a comb and I threw it with annoyance,

"Well what's so bad about being black? I've always wanted a black man." Annabeth said

"What am I gonna tell my boss? My friends?"

"We'll figure it out but until then we gotta keep looking." She said

We spent the next hour looking. Well the next forty-five minutes, we spent fifteen minutes doing something i'm not gonna say. 

"Dr. Chase should be at his office now." I said, putting on my shoes.

"I'll come with." Annabeth yelled from the the bedroom

"Who's gonna watch the kids?" I yelled back

"I'll call Kal, see if she can babysit." She replied 

"Okay." I said

Thirty minutes later Kal showed up, and we were off to the doctors' office.

"I have no clue what's wrong with you, nothing I've ever learned sounds anything like this. I can take some samples and send them to the lab for a deep analysis, but the most we can do is wait." Dr. Chase said

I sighed again, holding on to Annabeth's hand. We walked out the doctor's office, 

"Where to next?" Annabeth asked

"Home." I said

"That's it? We're just gonna give up?" 

"Generally, yeah." I said "We can't do anything until the results come in." 

I unlocked the car and we drove off. We rode in silence for the next forty-five minutes, then a truck t-boned us and the car went spiraling.
