Dreaming

Like a spilled glass of glitter
Stars litter the night sky
White splatters of paint
Flicked on canvas like dye
Eyes turned towards the horizon
Where Aurora Borealis bloom
Oh, how I long
To escape from this tomb.

To have a starship
So free
Soaring through uncharted space
A zero-G vaccum
Engulfed in silence's embrace

Oh, moon, I plea
I know the dangers are many
Black holes, Ion storms--
The hazards are plenty.

But I'm willing!
I'm able; just give give me a chance!
To walk with the stars
To take my stance!

To leave my mark
On a world full of hate
I must reach for the stars
So that creativity will sate

It's a thirst in a dried up oasis
People fighting on a regualar basis

So you see, dear moon
I want to change this world
But I'll need that ship
With my sails unfurled

And a good hearty crew
With lots of brass
So from moon to man I say
Will you, with me, amass?

Bretheren, hear me,
I sail for the stars
But I can't make it alone
So I have open arms

For it is not space that awaits
But a thousand year plight
Earth needs us here
So as to end this fight

But eyes towards the sky;
We will not lose our way
It is our love that guides us here
Space is for another day.
