Nine

"You woke me up this early for what" Lauren complained. Mind you it's almost 1 pm. "Put your sunglasses on and relax" I laughed.

It was almost 80 degrees in Florida today, I swore I was going to faint. I hated heat, which is ironic since I'lll be moving to California.

"Where are we even going" Lauren rolled down her window. "Jewelry store" I started driving. "Ooo finally gonna buy that watch you've been talking about" Lauren nodded her head

"No I'm buying Normani a ring" It was quiet. "A promise ring" Lauren said slowly. "No, an engagement ring" I said slowly back. "you're talking to me as if this isn't new news" Lauren said.

"This is why you dragged me here, so I can approve the ring , like yes your some what a girl but your taste lord" Lauren laughed. "Bitch I have a good taste in everything" I rolled my eyes.

"Women yes" Lauren clapped.

When we got to the mall. We got something to drink because this was going to be a long process.

The man at the jewelry store took us to the section of Engagement rings. I'm pretty sure me and Lauren didn't know what to do.

"Um well" Lauren gulped. "You look I'm going to text Normani" I sat down. Pulling out my phone

"You like this one" Lauren held up a ring. I shook my head .

"Dinah , please your boner is showing" Lauren shook her head. I got up putting my phone away.

I began looking through some rings. "This shit is hard" I mumbled. "what exactly are you looking for" The guy asked. "Like what does she really like" my mind instantly went to our text messages.

"She's obsessed with rose gold" Lauren spoke . The guy moved us to another section. "Big , small medium"  well I know what I am "B-"
"Medium she has a child" Lauren interrupted. The guy moved us to the middle. "Hope fully this is easier" he was clearly gay.

"These would look amazing on my finger don't you think Dinah"  Lauren pointed at one. "No this would look perfect on Normani" I smiled.

"Dinah , I've underestimated you" Lauren smiled.

They guy came back and took out the ring. "14k rose gold 1.5 carat retailing at 3,122.00" Lauren stared at me. "Okay I'll take it" I pulled out my wallet.

"Can I try it on" Lauren poker my arm. "No" I said looking at her as if she was crazy.

After I paid for the ring we drove back to my Mom's house.

We sat in the living room waiting for my mom to come home. "You really thought this through" Lauren looked at me.

"Sorta... i want Normani to be apart of my new life" I shrugged. "What's wrong? your acting strange" Lauren asked. "Just ready to leave" I closed my eyes.

I lied , I'm worried what if Normani doesn't want to marry me , maybe she isn't ready. What if she's actually mad at me for what happened. I let her apologize so much and and I said was "so am I" All of this thinking made my head hurt.

Eventually my mom came home, Lauren was knocked out. "Dinah why aren't you sleeping" my mom touched my cheek. " I wanted to show you the ring" I held it out to her. Her eyes widened.

"This looks expensive Dinah"
"She's worth it mom" I mumbled.
"I know, go up to bed take Lauren with you"she pointed at her.

I slapped Lauren on the back telling her let's go upstairs.

******the next day ****

I now know why Lauren sleeps on planes . "That was the best sleep I had since we left" I told Lauren she nodded in agreement.

"I'm trusting you with this, if you lose it , you will pay every penny back" I handed her  the bag. Lauren went to her room and I went to mine.

I decided to call Normani.

"Hey" she said softly.

"Come lay with me" I mumbled.

"You're back" I heard the excitement in her voice that made my heart melt.

"I'll be waiting" I laughed

After a hour Normani finally showed. she jumped on me tacklin me with kisses . "I missed you" she said as she laid her head on my chest.

"So what did you do while I was away" I asked while running my hands through her hair . "Just clean up my room , go to the mall with Z, and wait for you"

"You two are talking again" I mumbled. "Yeah.." she said softly
