i walk in the grocery store. cold. bts playing. i spot a couple of grandmas getting some food for lunar new year. it looks deserted from another angle though.

i roll down my sleeves and shiver. i walk over to the veggies and pick up some green onions and bean sprouts. asian necessities. i check my phone.

mom: green onions and bean sprouts. you can get one snack for yourself. hurry up

it was 9:40. gosh i do need to hurry up. i head to the snack aisle and quickly get a box of Pepero. someone says my name.

"siyeon!!"

"oh... hi!" who is this guy again, i think.

"getting pepero again, right?"

"ok. see you tomorrow." he puts his hood on and walks to the seafood department.

who was that? i thought. tomorrow, he said. tomorrow is monday. he goes to my school?

i quickly give the cashier $10 and bow my head.

i'm walking to the parking lot, but still so confused. he knew my name and he looked about my age. so he must go to my school. but how did he know i liked pepero? i don't think anyone would recognize just some random asian girl with a jacket on, trying to get some pepero.
