Lumina's POV:
The alarm clock screeched in my ear annoyingly. My pillow flew over my head as I attempted to silence the ringing.
"Lumi! Get you ass out of bed!" My mother yelled. I slammed my hand on the clock and the ringing ceased.
"Coming!" I groaned and turned over. My whole body hit the hard wooden floor. "Shit!" I hissed in pain. My blankets crashed onto the floor with me.
"What was that?" My mother barged into my bedroom. When she took one glance at me, she burst out with laughter.
"No, I'm fine, thank you for your concern." I remarked sarcastically.
"Get your lazy ass up," She continued to chuckle between words. "you're graduating today." Finally, I got to leave my personal hell.
My mother was the happiest to see me graduate from the academy because she had her doubts about me. I get into fights daily with trainers and preppy students. The Lieutenant General threatened to expel me a few times. Today is the day that I get to graduate and do what I want with my life.
"I'm up!" I threw the blankets off of myself. I watched my mom retreat from my room.
After this year, I'm going into the Defensive Army. I'll be able to protect our borders from the Werewolves. Many of my fellow classmates are going into different units to fight against them as well.
These wars have been going on for a very long time. The only reason that the human race has survived this long is because we outnumber the Werewolves by a lot. Our numbers are rapidly decreasing though which is why we need to find new ways to kill them. We've grown a bit desperate over the years, there was some talk about launching a nuclear missile at their kingdom earlier this year.
Werewolves are heartless, cruel, and dangerous. I learned about them at a very young age. My father was in the Defensive Army, he used to tell me stories about his job and how many Werewolves that he fought. My father was a hero and I want to be just like he was.
"Lumina! We have to leave in an hour!" I dug through my messy closet to find my black dress. I threw it onto my bed and started doing my hair.
After my hair and make up was done, my mother screamed for me to hurry up. I threw on my dress and looked into my full-length mirror. My brown hair was slightly curled. My make up was simply dark eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and a thin coat of nude lipgloss. The strapless black dress went to my mid thigh. This is more "girly" than I usually am but it's a special occasion.
"I swear I will leave you here if you do not get your skinny ass in the car in approximately ten seconds!" I listened to my mother bellow. I threw on my maroon graduation cap and gown. Quickly, I made my way downstairs in my black flats. Once I took a seat in the car, my mother began driving.
"I can't believe this day has finally come." I comment with a small smile on my face.
"I'm surprised you hadn't screwed this up already with all of the fighting and disobedience on your record." She shook her head and let out a laugh.
"I'd like to thank Lieutenant General Starks for never expelling me even after I threw hot coffee on his assistant. I'd also like to thank my beautiful mother whom made me waffles every morning before I made my way to the dreaded academy." I made a speech. The car stopped abruptly in front of the academy field.
"I have to go find a parking space, you should sign in." I opened the door and stepped out. Armed security guards surrounded the area.
"Name?" A guard came up to me with a clipboard.
"Lumina Ramos." I replied. He checked my name off of the list and motioned for me to proceed to the middle of the field where all of my classmates stood in their caps and gowns. There were a bunch of fold-out chairs and a podium at the front of everything.
