Black Ice

Silent walks through toe-deep-snow,
Goes to show, don't give up and you never know.
Walking on water, out on a lake
Once where swimmers created waves and wake
But if I take one look around
All there is is snow and ice,
And sound.
Sound of words screamed and left unsaid.
But as we share, gazes, stories, worries
The wind blows gently, blowing snow in wild whirls about us
In a silent snow globe
The wind sharing too it's words of wisdom
Blowing too, light brown hair across
A god-crafted face,
Wind taking your hat, you pulling it down at a fixed pace
We laugh and laugh at this silly path we take,
Slide, back and forth, across the bubble-filled,
Unable to break, black ice,
Our hats and gloves, wet wool, itching like lice.
That's what's bitter sweet, sitting together in one seat, eating seeds, baking cookies,
Taking, making, memories to hoard and remember.
Remember our distance.
Together in a plain existence,
Snow and ice and time to shatter resistance.
Together in a perfect existence.
