She didn't mind putting herself aside. Others did it for her too often.
A bit of suffering never hurt anyone.
Except..
This wasn't suffering. This wasn't sacrifice. This wasn't painful.
She felt as though she'd overdosed her vitamins; it was wrong, but it felt right.
She was only a mere pointer, nudging her friend into his direction. Acting as if she wasn't affected as well.
She despised her attraction. The way he didn't seem to care about her best friend's feelings.
The work she was doing for nothing. Or was it really for nothing?
Maybe she was overthinking again.
She did that too often.
Much too often to be normal.

He moved around wherever he wanted in the fourth hour.
Or he detached himself from his group.
She always stayed next to her seat.
Waiting for the bell to ring.
The girl next to her friend was the helper.
Wing-woman.
The little angel perched on her shoulder whispering, Show him. Don't be afraid. Don't be ashamed.
But the angel herself was now afraid.
Ashamed.
Feathers falling off one by one.
