Thinking But Not Seeing

Marks P.O.V.

'Yes dad, he is sweet to me. Yes, he did buy me flowers. Yes, we are dating. I know he lives in Ireland but...' Y/N is explaining her difficult love story to her parents who don't seem to keep their mouth shut. They are killing her with a thousand questions she has to answer, as peacefully and as calmly as she can she answers them all, from age to job and back to appearance.

You think it is exactly the right moment to jump in, because you can hear her voice getting a bit irritated. Her feet are clicking on the tiles of the bathroom, and she is knocking on the door constantly. So on the moment you open the door you notice a sudden calmness on her face. You hug her tight, before she goes back to her call.

'Yes somebody did come in. His name is Mark. No he is not my boyfriend dad. Dad, stop it!' Y/n giggles as her father probably made a joke. It is hard to put all the pieces together if you can only hear one side of the conversation. Yet you already know what questions her parents are asking.

She sits down on the toilet seat, looking up at you for a split second. Your brown eyes meet her stunning e/c eyes and she smiles softly. Her smile prettier than anything you have ever seen. Still you don't love her the same way Jack does, with an inexhaustible source of love. Your love is that of a brother towards his sister. But OFFICIALLY you're not, yet it feels exactly like family.

'Dad, I need to go now. Tell Anna I love her and I see you soon,' Y/N ends the call with her parents before you can say anything at all. You don't mind tough, what would you've said to them? That you are friends with their daughter and that you saved her life? You owe Y/N one, which is clear for the both of you.

You remember F/N flying to Y/N's parents to tell them she had another attack again. As it seems her parents haven't told her that, and might never will. There is so much going on in her life right now that a tiny lie can't hurt, right? At the end, if she finds out, it is going to hurt and you know that. Therefore you will protect her from your secret, until your last breath has faded away.

'Something is wrong, so please, enlighten me!' she smiles softly and you look down at her, thinking about what you are going to say. How are you going to tell her that Jack just rushed away after a fight with Matthias who clearly holds a grudge against her?

'Jack is going to pick you up at nine,' you simply say. That was the most important thing you had to let her know. Still there is so much more you have to speak about. Y/N knows that, so you see in her eyes. She is not even a small bit confused as you start the real story of what happened.

'Matthias doesn't like you that much.' You whisper as you run your hand through your hair. You feel a bit awkward talking about this towards her. But it's for the best, at least you hope so. And Y/N needs to know how other people think about her. Yet only people who are close with her or her friends, because right now, you don't have time for haters.

'I already guessed that,' Y/N looks down to her feet, as she already feels the uncomfortable tension in the small room. The air is full of it, and so are the words you are telling her. And as her cheeks turn red and her eyes try to find yours, you know you have completely messed this up before you were even midway.

'Jack got pissed because of what Matthias said and he told him how he thought about it. He then walked away, angry. I'm so sorry Y/N,' you say as her eyes are turning slightly red. You cringe as she snuffles her nose. You already feel so guilty.

'What did Matthias say?' Y/N asks and on those moments you wish you were not such a soft hearted cuddly teddy bear as you are. You don't want to repeat those words, because you know it will break her. Yet as it seems, you don't have to anymore when a sudden known voice confesses.

'You only know her for a few days, maybe a week or two. And you already started dating her? Why? You don't even know her,' you hear your friend whisper from behind your back. He has made his way to the door and opened it without you noticing. You were so fully sure that your senses had decreased after FNAF. Not enough it seems.

Y/N looks up at the blond, as he repeats what he had just said towards you and Jack. You stay silent, and hope for a split second that Matthias will apologize. And as you wish and pray for the gods, Matthias says the heavy words you waited for.

'I'm sorry.'

Matthias his voice breaks mid sentence and you kind of feel for him. You also know Y/N does too, because her eyes turn soft as the words are floating in the air. She smiles softly before she hugs the almost complete stranger (to her). You notice Matthias being stunned for a good couple of seconds before he finds himself again.

He raps his arms around her waist and closes his eyes as they hug. His glasses are almost falling from his nose but he doesn't seem to care anymore. He just cares about making it up to her. But as you said before, a sorry isn't going to change anything.

'I was thinking too much and I weren't seeing or paying attention to how you make him laugh and how he shines of you touching him. I was blind for what once was me, because I've been there. And I should be the one understanding most,' Matthias whispers as he hugs the beautiful girl even tighter. You as the third wheel are slowly sinking into the earth. You get that this is an important moment, but it is also uncomfortable as all hell for you.

You stay where you are, although you would more like it to find the nearest corner and just stand somewhere you cannot be noticed. Yet it brings a smile on your face seeing the two of them hugging.

'It's okay,' the gold hearted girl says. You don't understand how a human being can be so pure and so loving. How she can easily forgive someone, without blinking. How she can make people laugh without trying and how she makes the world a better place.'

'This must really be uncomfortable for you,' Matthias says as he looks your way. You have known him for so long that he understands what you are trying to say without wasting any words.

Y/N steps back from the hug, before she starts giggling softly. You are so frozen of uneasiness that you literally cannot move. So there you stand with both arms sticking against your sides. You know this must look funny, and if it wasn't you, you would laugh.

'I think I'm gonna get us some pizza,' you say before almost run to the door. You haven't eaten in a while and the cold wind will maybe make you forget the uneasiness you have felt only second ago. And you would do so much for just a single bite of pizza.

'I think I'll go too, I do have a date and I need to get ready!' Y/N smiles but she decides to wait with going before you had a head start. She knows you just need some time alone, with only you and all the food in the shop...

'Bye!' your friend yells just seconds after you have taken your red and black blocked shirt that almost the whole world knows about. You think it isn't that cold outside and with full confidence you step outside. You think about the possibility you might run into Jack and that thought makes you walk a bit faster than you would normally walk.

You open the door of the flat and see that it is raining, but you don't care. The shop isn't THAT far away from Matthias his home so you could easily run there, besides running keeps you in shape;)

So as water collides with skin, you inhale deeply. Fresh air fills your lungs and you smile as you run down the block. The wind blows against your hair, your shoes are getting wet but for once, just once, you don't care.
