If You've Lost the Will to Fight

If you've lost the will to fight
And you can't seem to stay
on your feet, then darling,
know that one day you will
take the world by storm
as you are meant to.
We can't run; we will not hide
because we are meant to stay alive.
You and I, in dying light,
do declare that we matter.
We matter in darkness and in pain,
in youth and age, in joy and sorrow.
We matter in death just as much as life.
Our unspoken words won't
become our shame if
we allow them to shape who we are.

Boy, I know you are lost.
Though we are different,
we share the pain of thinking
we are alone. Those who taunt
and tease and tame may seem
infinite for now but know that they
are only a passing flicker,
obstructing your light that is infinite;
that is endless and dauntless
and the path that will guide someone's way.
Believe that you are strong enough to stand,
compassionate enough to care
for whoever you please.
Understand that the things you
like and love are yours and no one
can take them from you.

Girl, you've been through so much
and it pains me to hear that you're
struggling just to stay alive.
That you've turned your back
on those who might try to help;
that you've become the one lost
to the world you're meant to save.
Don't let their words become you;
don't let their actions destroy you.
You--the wingless flight, the sparkless flame,
the catalyst of change-- you were born
for more than passing fame.
Remember that you are the one
that can alter fate and turn the tides
and fan the fires of your own destiny.
