#Visible Column: Red Nose Day

Friday March 24th is...

This is a great night of TV for all the family. It's a charity day of fundraising and bringing light to problems that can be helped around the world, culminating in a few hours of TV including live music and funny sketches.

Red Nose Day is every two years, and falls under the Children in Need Charity which is a charity night that happens every November.

So, what does the money raised on these days go towards?

Basically, it goes to supporting and helping the lives of people across the UK and Africa.

Since the last Red Nose day (2015)

over 860,000 children have been given life-saving vaccines in Africa.

Over 43,000 people with a mental health condition in the UK are getting the help they need.

It has supported 310,000 children, young people and their families, at risk of abuse, violence and exploitation internationally, to lead safer lives in the UK

They also buy and provide mosquito nets to vulnerable people in Africa, to help stop the spread of malaria. 

These are just a few of the issues that the money raised goes towards, it also helps provide funding to community groups across the UK.

In last year alone, the Children in Need charity has raised over 50 Million pounds to help support these efforts, and in turn, changed hundreds of thousands of lives.

If you are a fan of the film 'Love Actually', you will be happy to know that for Red Nose day, the cast are reuniting to film a 'where are they now' short film! (internal screaming!)
