Okay I realized while watching Ace of the Diamond that if Haikyuu was a baseball anime instead, I could tell what parts they'd play.
Kageyama obviously would be a pitcher. He has nearly perfect control over where the ball goes, except that they were almost impossible to hit and catch. In his Jr. High team, he was always in games, but his fastballs, sliders, changeups , and forkballs (yes I somehow know my baseball) were hard to hit and catch. He never have someone who could properly catch or hit his throws.
Hinata would usually be considered a batter or maybe a fielder, but I believe he'd be actually be a catcher. Of course he could bat, or fill in a fielder. (He still can jump super high.) When Suga is pitching, Hinata is resting by being a outfielder. Hinata at first had trouble in catching and batting. Noya helped in catching in the outfield while Daichi helped him bat.
Daichi would obviously be a main batter. He would be a strong batter too. He could hit any baseball flying towards him, even Kageyama's throw. Daichi also would be an outfielder who could catch most incoming balls. He's still captain.
Suga would be a pitcher only (like Kags) and throw mainly sinkers and forkballs. He is usually on the bench cheering the team on. When he feels in for Kags, Ennoshita is his catcher to give poor Hinata a break (he has to catch Kags terrifying throws. But never gave the spot up willingly). Suga will always remain team mom and co-captain.
Nishinoya is an amazing outfielder and infielder. He can catch any baseball flying in hope of letting the batter reach a base. He even can catch a certain farmer's batted ball.
Asahi is a batter who whispers "sorry" each time he hits a pitcher's pitch. He still remains to look thuggish giving the opposite team the chills. (but he's still nothing but a big teddy bear)
Tanaka is crazy batter who loves to crush pitchers by hitting their every pitch. He also gives the opposing teams the creeps with his thug like act. (despite still being a total dork)
Tsukki is a tsundere infielder and batter. He swings strongly and protects the bases.
Yamaguchi is a pitcher who throws curveballs. His throws seem to move right in front of the batter. Of course he's only used in tight situations.
Ennoshita is a catcher for Suga and sometimes Yamaguchi. He doesn't get to play often and is usually chilling in the dugout. He sucks at trying to catch a ball that's not meant to land in his mitt.
Narita is an infielder with Tsukki. He can do both infield and outfield. (yes there's a difference. Outfielders deal with hits while infielders mostly deal with bunts and taking out runners.)
Kinoshita is a batter and fielder.
Takeda-senpai is still the main 'coach' while Ukai does most the actual work.
Kiyoko and Yachi are the only managers. (Managers stay in the stands durring games with the rest of the team that couldn't make the dugout AKA firststring, which is 20 players)
Sorry if some information on baseball is wrong. I haven't talked or got involved with baseball in a long time. Most information was refreshed by Ace of the Diamond. PS there would need to be more characters or they wouldn't be a full team. There needs to be at least 20 (I think it was) players. Also the ace is the main pitcher who leads the team and his/her jersey number is 1. Suga holds that number. Daichi is number 3. Ennoshita is 2 because I'm pretty sure that's the catcher's number. Man I'm rusty. I remember absolute crap about baseball...
