(POV:. KAYLA)

"So these are your lockers," a pretty girl with long black hair from the office said pointing at two long red lockers for Kaylen and me.

"Thanks," we said in unison.

She nodded. The girl then walked to mom stacking up our registration forms.

We were right next to each other on the top row like always. Kaylen and I smiled at each other. We were finally back to school!

Kaylen and I kept quiet and just exchanged glances. This place was crowded with so many people. You had all types too. The ballers, the wannabe ballers, the dancers, the cheerleaders, the AP is life folk, and the normals.

Mom waved us off and we got our schedules. It turned out that Darnell had already submitted our base information so we were already in the system; it was just for us to pick up our schedules and for mom to go over the info and make sure everything was correct.

"What class do you have first?" Kaylen asked me after we shoved everything into our lockers.

"Eh, English," I said reading through the list. "You?"

"AP Environmental science," she sighed and I laughed.

We parted our ways since our classes were on opposite sides of the school.

We both made sure and dressed nice today and everyone kept staring at us and some guys tried to say hi too. Apparently, we had guys falling for us and girls getting jealous but it was whatever. We just dressed how we felt like.

I kept searching for my class. Dang, it was so hard to find places here and it was even harder cause I knew no one except my sister.

"Hey, umm excuse me!" I said to a random guy leaning against a wall in the hall.

He turned around and I realized how cute he was. He was brown-skinned and looked about 6'2 with a good-sized body.

"What?" he snapped pulling out his earphones.

He didn't even look at me; just over my head. I scrunched my forehead. Who was he talking to like that?

"Ah-hem" I cleared my throat rudely. "I'm down here boy."

He looked at me and tried to hold back a smile.

"Oh um-uh, my bad shorty." He apologized stuttering slightly. He stood straight. "What you need?"

"I'm new here so can you show me where my first-period class is, please? This place is confusing like crazy," I asked and he started laughing.

"Yeah, I'll show you where it is," he said and took my schedule from my hands.

He studied my schedule for a while and just started walking without saying anything and I followed. The guy handed it back to me.

"You know where it is?" I asked with a scrunched forehead making sure he didn't just have me walking behind him.

"Yeah. We're in the same first period English with Mrs. Larson."

I nodded and kept following him. We didn't say anything to each other but it was fine cause I was still trying to get used to how big this school was.

"And we're here," the guy said walking into the classroom.

"Thanks."

"Yeah, no problem."

Before he sat, he did a high five with some guys and I could hear them teasing him slightly about me, but he just sucked his teeth and brushed them off. They then started staring at me, while he got his things out for class. All of them were good looking too. One had darker-skinned with deep waves. One was white and the others were brown-skinned. I ignored them and walked to my seat.
