Normani POV
Bright blue sky and a sweet, calming scent wash over me and I lay back, enjoying the free feeling. I see 2 figures in the distance and my eyes light up when I recognize who it is. I get up, walking towards them and hug them tightly.
"I missed you guys so much" I mumble
"We missed you too baby" My dad says
"I have so much to tell y'all" I say
We talk about everything that's happened from my job to Zendaya to Lauren and the past. I was about to start another topic when realization hit.
"Wait hold on! Where are we and where is everybody?" I ask
"Wherever we are it's really beautiful and peaceful" I say
"You're nearing death, do you remember what happened?" My mom asks
Everything comes back to me and I slowly nod my head.
"Stay with me Mani, I'm here for you through whatever, I'll always be there by your side, it's not time for you to go yet, we got much more to do together and I don't wanna do it if you're not here" I hear Zendaya's faint voice say
"You gotta go back princess" My dad says
I shake my head and tears fill my eyes.
"I've been through a lot already within 5 years, this life ain't no way for anyone to live, my spirit is breaking just as hard as I'm trying to hold on to it, I've had enough, who's to say that won't happen again? I can't go back, it feels like I'm goin through hell, I love Zendaya more than anything but it's like no matter what I do something happens and I just wanna stay here with you guys, nothing's been the same and I'm tired" I cry
"So you're just gonna give up? On your sister? On your friends? On Lauren?" My mom asks
"Mama don't do that" I whine
"Do what? Tell you the truth?" She asks
"Lauren will be fine without me and so will everybody else, they'll deal with it" I say
"100% wrong" My dad says
"You promised you would stay no matter what, that nothing would separate us and you were gonna try your hardest to make sure that promise was kept, wake up for me at least, I need you here, don't leave me by myself Mani, I need you back home and I need my big sister to protect me like no one else will, it's been a month come back to me" I hear Zendaya say again
"Still gonna stay? Or are you gonna go and be the big sister she needs you to be?" My dad asks
"Go back" I mumble
"We're watching you guys, we're proud of you baby you stepped up in a big way and that's all we care about, you can relax now cause you both are gonna be fine" My mom smiles
"And some things you have to learn on your own but just know you and that amazing woman who loves you for you have something special" She adds
I smile and they pull me in for a hug.
"See you when it's time" He says
"We love you" She says
"I love you guys too" I sigh
Everything goes black and I open my eyes to a bright light.
"Cut it off" I say as best as I can while closing my eyes
"Oh gosh Mani" Zendaya says while hugging me tightly
"Zen" I groan
"I'm gonna get the doctor" She says
She turns off the light on her way out and I stretch my body out as much as I can, damn everything is stiff. She comes back with the doctor, who hands me a much needed cup of water.
"How are you feeling?" She asks
"Better now" I say
"That's good, do you know what happened?" She asks
"Well I know what I did but how did it put me in a coma?" I ask
"Overdose" She says sadly
I nod my head slowly and she continues talking to me about other things. I ask for a toothbrush and rag to do as much hygiene as I can, once I'm done Zendaya sits next to me and lays her head on my chest.
"I heard what you were saying earlier, I didn't want to come back but after that I couldn't bring myself to just leave everybody especially you" I say
"Glad you didn't" She says
"Who are you here with?" I ask
"Lauren, she went to get food" She says
"She's been with me the whole time" She adds
I smile and look towards the door when I hear it open.
"Hi babe" Lauren smiles
She sits on the other side of me and places a kiss on my cheek.
"How do you feel?" She asks
"Ok, I'm just really hungry and tired" I say
"Here, I got extra just in case you woke up" She says
When we finish eating we sit in silence, watching the TV.
"What time is it?" I ask
"Almost 11" Lauren says
"You need to go get ready for school Zen" I say
"No I just got you back, let me stay here" She says
I nod my head and lay my head on Lauren's chest.
"How long you have to stay?" She asks
"A week" I yawn
"Alright, you should sleep now, we'll be here when you wake up" She says
"Mhmm" I mumble
I close my eyes and fall asleep with the comfort of the two people that has hold over my heart.
