'Stop it!'
'Leave her alone!'
'Why are you here?'
'Get out!'
'Get away from her!'
Sapphire shouted at the top of her lungs, running and searching for a way to get Ruby away from the group of people kicking and punching her. She slapped and hit, jumped and yelled, fought until her knuckles were bloody. Nothing. They finally went away once Ruby was beaten an battered. Trickles of red poured down her mouth, nose, and several scrapes and scars on her body. Sapphire ran to her and tried lifting her up, finally succeeding and dragging Ruby inside of what looked like a house, but Sapphire didn't know if it was even hers or someone else's. She got to the steps and everything went black.
They were now in her room, Sapphire half-laying-half-sitting-up and Ruby standing above her, taking her shirt off. She remembered this moment. This was their first time.
Before Ruby could fully take it off, everything paused, the room literally stopping every movement, as if everyone but Sapphire was put on hold. Then a voice could be heard.
'Do you still think she loves you?'
Sapphire got up, trying to leave the building, but unable to even pass the door of her bedroom. She fell to the floor, confused and terrified. She looked at Ruby, moving the shirt to look at her face. Sapphire had never noticed the nervous look she had, she remembered it as being confident. It was sort of...afraid. But not the bad kid of fear, but more like the anticipation kind of fear when you're on a rollercoaster and you're going up the ramp to the top: excited, but scared.
She sighed, time starting again, almost as if her sigh was enough to unfreeze the frozen moment. Then the room changed again. They were now in a bigger room, Sapphire feeling as if she knew the room. She ran her fingers through the fuzzy blanket on it, then she felt overwhelming exhaustion. She relaxed and laid on the bed, jumping when she heard the sound of the door click. Sapphire smiled, but she didn't know why.
