"THANK YOU."

LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL.

the air was thick, the quietness surrounding the halls of the usually loud walkways was frightening. everyone was afraid to speak, afraid to make eye contact with anyone, or even make the slightest noise at nothing. the announcements were all that filled the schools silence, and even at that no one reacted, they didn't know how to.

first hour was the longest of Faith's life, her brown eyes remained fixated on her Chemistry book as she prayed that her teacher would just stop talking so she could think in quiet. this Wednesday felt like a Monday and all the brunette wanted was for it to be over.

a few aisles over was another brunette, a male with sad eyes and his hands laced together atop of the wooden desk. he looked guilty, most of the kids felt and seemed that way as well.

Zach Dempsey.  Faiths boyfriend, who had secrets not even the younger girl could put a finger on, but she never pried, if Zach said nothing was wrong, she almost always took his word for it.

but the older basketball player knew to give his girlfriend her space, he knew what she was going through, he knew the quiet she wanted and quiet is what she deserved for what he knew was echoing over and over inside her head.

Its your fault

she wanted to believe her thoughts were untrue, but she was one of the last people to see Hannah before things went to shit and her world was turned upside down.

the pair met the summer before Sophomore year, and all Faith wanted to believe was that this was just some sick nightmare and that she had slept too long and this was what was playing while she slept.

but it wasn't, she was wide awake, the dark circles underneath her once bright eyes told everyone that saw her that day exactly that. she was awake, dealing with the grief, and the pang in her chest every time a teacher even mentioned the event indirectly.

she felt alone, even with all of the genuine shoulder squeezes, and the hugs she had received from her friends she felt alone.

one of the most popular girls in school was left to her lonesome, without her brunette partner in crime she had felt empty.

she was hollow, almost etching for some sort of breath of fresh air.

the bell rang, interrupting her thoughts and making her blink her eyes a few times before she snapped back to the reality she was forced to deal with.
