Chapter 8: Getting Along?!

(Again, same as the last one. Some/most will be through the eyes of Oka or Ayano. I hope you enjoy.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~Your POV ~~~~~~~~~~~~

After a few rounds of mine craft hunger games you grab your phone and call Ayano.

"Hello?"

"Hi Ayano, it's (y/n). I was just checking in to make sure you and Oka were doing fine." You Ayano drop the phone and pick it up.

"Yeah, we're fine."

"Are you su-" Ayano cuts you off.

"Hey! You passed me!"

You look at Chi with a confused look after you hear Oka start laughing for the first time. Ayano soon laughs with her, of course it sounds kind of maniacal. "Ayano?"

"Oh, sorry. Kind of in the middle of a Mario cart race at the moment. Did you throw a banana at me!? Dammit! I'll call you back after I crash Oka at this race."

She ends the call. Chi and you are super confused. "...um...they actually got along with each other?"

"And their having more fun them us..."

You grab the Mario cart game from one of your drawers. Chi lights up with excitement, you put the game in and hit start. Chi is much better at this game then you, you keep crashing into walls and hitting....bananas. As weird as that sounds it's sadly true. You get up and walk to the kitchen to make some popcorn. As the popcorn is cooking Chi walks into the kitchen.

"Where's the bathroom? I want to change into something other than my uniform."

"Upstairs to the left." He walks away and to the bathroom. You put the popcorn into two separate bowls, one for you and one for Chi. You pause before pouring Chi's bowl. You look around and pour a bit more into your bowl and then you pour the rest into Chi's bowl. You get more than he does because you love popcorn....maybe a little too much sometimes. You set the bowls on the coffee table and sit down. Chi comes back wearing comfy pants and a white tank top. He sets his uniform in his bag and grabs the controller as he sits next to you. You hit start.

~~~~~~~~~~~Oka's POV ~~~~~~~~~~~~

Me and Ayano play Mario cart for a long time until we finally take a break.

"You're really good at this Oka."

"Thank you Ayano." Ayano looks at me, I glance in her direction.

"Oka?"

I look towards her.

"You laughed...I'm pretty sure that's the first time anyone has heard you laugh or smile."

I look away. "...Y-you did the same..."

"Yeah, but I'm not like you. You never smile or laugh. You barely ever show any other expression other than shy, neutral, or sad."

I stay silent.

"Is this because of the bullying at school?"

I slowly nod...I didn't even realize it but tears were slowly starting to stream down my face. It's true...I don't ever have a different expression other than sad. And it's all because of the bullying. Ayano reaches over and moves my face to look at her, she sees my tears and scoots closer. She hesitates for a moment before slowly hugging me. No one has ever hugged me...and I can tell Ayano is new to this whole nice thing and affection. I slowly hug back and bury my face in her shirt, I let the tears fall down to floor. Ayano slowly let's go and wipes my tears away.

"Do you want something to eat or drink?"

I nod.

"Popcorn and soda?"

"Popcorn and water, I'm not a big fan of sodas..." She nods and pats me on the head slightly. She gets up and walks to the kitchen, she stops at the door to the kitchen.

"Hey Oka, you can go change into something more comfortable of you want. The bathroom is upstairs to your right, second door on the right. If you don't have any comfy clothes you can use some of mine...I don't mind."

She walks into the kitchen. I grab my grey comfy shorts and black tank top, I walk to the bathroom and change. I look at my wrist, the one that was stepped on. Does Ayano really care that I'm being bullied? It's strange....as we slowly get to know each other she feels for me more and more. I look in the mirror at my reflection, my hair a mess and around my eyes are dark like normal. Is this really how I've come to be? I used to be so happy before I came here, now look at me...I'm ruined...I'm I really worth it? I sigh and walk back downstairs to see Ayano waiting on the couch with two glasses of water and a medium sized bowl of popcorn. She looks at me as I sit down and put my uniform away.

"Why did you take so long Oka?"

"Oh...I was...I was also going to the restroom and I tried fixing my hair." She leans close and gently glides her hand down my hair.

"Tried? More like you didn't even touch it....are you okay?"

I nod biting my bottom lip slightly.

"...okay...just tell me if something is wrong."

We continue playing Mario cart for the night. I set my sleeping bag up on the floor in the living room after Ayano moves the coffee table out of the way.

"Not going to sleep on the couch?"

I shake my head.

"Well then."

She sets her sleeping bag next to mine. It's confusing how she works but I don't mind. We get into our sleeping bags after Ayano turns the lights off. Later in the night I feel Ayano wrap her arms around me and pull me close as if I were a toy she sleeps with. I know she sleeps with a toy sometimes...I lay there silent thinking she'll let go...but she doesn't. I don't care anymore, I'm too tired. I slowly fall asleep.

Unlike the girls who are probably already asleep you and Chi stay up more than half the night playing video games and you sometimes taking a break from screens to read and study for upcoming test. Soon enough, you both fall asleep...you on the couch and Chi who sleeps in his sleeping bag on the floor.
