Take me home - Jess Glynn

**

Bellamy back into Arkadia on the rover as Avery stepped out to meet Kane and her mom. "Welcome back Avery." Willow smiled as Bellamy came out from the truck.

"Mom, Kane." She smiled as thunder crackled. Rain dropped down, burning all of them. "Black rain." She whispered as Bellamy came up behind her. "Come on, inside. This isn't a drill, sound the alarm."

Avery guided people in with her mom, pulling her hood up. "Avery, go inside. I'm right behind you."

"Okay. Mom, stay safe." She replied, wincing whenever the rain hit her. She breathed out when she went inside the ark, taking her jacket, top and trousers off and splashing herself with water before looking around for her mom.

Her mom wasn't inside.

Just as Kane and Bellamy was about to close the door, she called for them to stop. "No. No, stop. Mom's still out there.

She spotted her mom trying to pull someone in, her skin blistering with each step. Harper stood with her as they saw Bellamy and Kane helping the pair in. Avery took her mom as soon as she stepped inside, splashing water onto her and putting her trousers on.

"You're fine, you're fine." she whispered as her mom only screamed in pain as the water touched her skin.

She carried her inside slowly to the infirmary where Isaac took her. "What going to happen to her?" She asked as she layed on the bed.

"I've got her Avery. Don't worry." Isaac reassured her.

She grabbed her radio as Kane's voice buzzed from it. "Avery, do you hear your Radio?"

"Yeah, I'm coming to you." She said into the radio. "Look after her, I've got to go for a few muinites. Isaac, please look after her." he nodded back to her.

"Avery." Willow breathed out. "Help our people."

Avery smiled slightly, nodding in reply and walking to Kane and Bellamy as she put her shirt on. "What happened?"

"There are people outside." Bellamy replied as she put her jacket back on. She handed him his shirt as Kane spoke into the radio. "So?"

"We can't go for them."

"Kane, are you literally kidding me?" She asked. "These are our people outside, our people. Look, Clarke is out there finding a cure for radiation that is most likely going to kill us before they find one. We can't leave them out there."

"This rain burns, your mom is a prime example of that."

"You think I don't know that. You think that I wouldn't go out there myself if she wasn't dying in there. Now man up, go out in a god damn hazmat suit and get save our people." She shouted back at him before walking off to see her mom.

She walked to the infirmary, spotting Niylah but not Isaac. "Wheres my mom?"

"There's no space in here, he moved her to the hanger bay." Niylah told her as she moved backwards. She spotted her moms bright red hair and walked quickly towards her.

"I need Avery. I need my daughter." Willow tole Isaac as he tried to give her water.

"I'm here, Mom." She looked as her mom's body was filled with blisters. "No." Harper came from behind her, watching as she moved closer. "No."

"Avery, listen." She gulped before continuing. "I-I'm not going to make it through. B-But I love you okay? Av."

"I love you too." She said as tears escaped her eyes as her mom's breathing became more shallow. "I love you so much, you're the best mom anyone could anyone ask for. I love you,"

"Avery-" Her mom breathed out. "Don't blame yourself, this was me."

"It dosent matter, it never mattered. I'm sorry, I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorrym" she shushed before humming the tune that Chris Donavon used to hum to her, while stroking her hair.

"You still remember." she strained.

"How could I forget?" She replied. "Say it with me."

"In peace may you leave the shore." they both said. "In love may you find the next. Safe passage on your travels, May we meet again."

"May we meet again." Her mom repeated optimistically as Avery continued to hum the tune. A sob came out from Avery as she passed.

Avery felt an arm on her shoulder, knowing it was Harper as she closed her mom's eyes. She sobbed onto Harper's shoulder as Isaac carried her mom's body away.

Willow Donavon was dead.

Avery walked towards the radio, taking it in her hand as she sat down and speaking into it. "Bellamy, do you copy?" But no one replied. She turned around, spotting Kane behind her, hoping for the best."Where is he Kane?"

"He went for Mark and Peter but he's stuck in the mud."

"Bellamy, It's Avery do you copy?"

"Av."

"Are you okay? Are you safe?" She asked, her voice breaking slightly at the words okay.

"Yeah. I'm okay."

"Stay that way, I can't lose someone else today."

"Avery." Kane caught her attention, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Is your mom alive?" She dropped the radio, holding her head in her hands.

"She's gone, she's dead." She lifted her head up, looking at him with a frown. "What do I do?"

"You survive." he told her, remembering his own mother.

She stood up and walking towards Harper who was with Louis. "You okay?" She asked, as she stared at his body.

"It's my fault he's dead." She told her, as they embraced.

"It's no ones fault." She told her pulling away as they both had tears in their eyes. "And you shouldn't blame yourself becuase you are not the one to blame. Okay Harper? We will get through this, together."

They hugged once more before Avery leaned down, closing his eyes. "Who you want to be dosen't always win." Kane told Harper while walking away from the radio.

Avery almost jumped back to the radio, holding her sobs back. "Bellamy, come in. Bellamy, it's me, Its Avery."

"I couldn't save them."

"Its not your guilt to carry Bell." She told him before letting out a sob.

"Av, what happened? Why are you crying?"

"Mom's dead." she deadpanned. "Bell, I- My mom's dead."

Avery heard the rover pull up at the front of Arkadia, watching him and Kane speak.

He spotted Avery at the entrance of the airlock, ending his conversation with Kane and half running towards Avery.

Avery managed to crack a smiled when he wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her off her feet in the process before putting her back down gently. Avery wanted more. Oh god, she wanted so much more. "Thank you, I needed that." She lied.

Bellamy looked at her, remembering what had happened and smiling slightly. "Hey, everythings going to be okay."

"I'm not so sure Bell." she replied as she wrapped her arms around herself.
