| ARCHIE ANDREWS |

Your fist pierced the cool, autumn
air as you excitedly leaped to your
feet. The Riverdale Bulldogs had
finally scored and you were more than ecstatic to know that your boyfriend, Archie Andrews, had
brought the game back to a tie.

Everyone around you were
cheering just as loud as you
were, but Archie only heard
your voice. It was as if he had
somehow managed to shut the
entire world out just to focus on
you.

You caught his heart warming gaze
for a split second before he headed
back to start over and whether it
was the crinkles by your eyes or
your signature smile, Archie knew
he couldn't let you down.

The game continued and proceeded
to be more intense than any other
football game you'd been to,
which was a lot considering
you were always there to support
Archie.

The opposing team were really
striving to take the lead and
appeared to be growing quite
aggressive.

A miniscule block of fear began
to build it's way up inside you as
players were being bashed to the
uneven ground. It was natural for
you to be fearful: your boyfriend
was amongst those hefty players.

The ball soared through the air
as the opposition made their
passes down the field.

24 seconds to go.

The Bulldogs attempted multiple
strategies to tackle, but not a
single one succeeded.

Player after player crashed
to the ground.

More passes were made.

16 seconds to go.

Archie was the last defence.

His eyes darted between the smug
players bounding towards him.

His breathing quickened.

You observed nervously from the
stands, helpless at this point in time.

Your breathing quickened.

10 seconds to go.

Archie readied himself to tackle
but before he could even step
forward, a much larger player,
who had possession of the ball,
crashed into Archie, sending him
head first onto the ground.

You gasped in horror and the
sounds of shock around you
slowly faded out. Nothing else
mattered.

You were knocked out of your
daze when the piercing sound
of a whistle rang in your ears,
signalling the end of the game.

Without another thought, you
hurried out of the bleachers and
onto the pitch. The opposing team
were exchanging hi-fives and
thumps on the back,
congratulating themselves on
their last second points.

You rolled your eyes and
continued to sprint over to Archie,
who didn't seem to be responsive
to anything.

"Excuse me! Hey, let me through!"
You called, your voice cracking
slightly in devastation as you
pushed through the newly
submerged crowd of Archie's
teammates.

There he was.

Lying flat on his back.
Mumbling nonsense.
His eyes tightly shut.
Sweat evident on his
forehead.

"Oh Archie,"

You knelt down at his side,
completely dumbfounded
and unsure of what to do.

Ignoring the remarks from the
kids around you, you gently
swept Archie's red hair out of
his face and gripped his hand
tightly.

"Archie, please, wake up."
You whispered.

Then, as if in some parallel
universe your plead had been
heard, Archie slowly opened his
eyes and locked his gaze on you.

Just you.

No one else mattered.

"Y/N?"

You nodded, a slight smile
appearing on your lips.

"Wh-what happened?"
"One of those idiotic green
giants over there reigned on
your parade."

Archie's lips formed an 'o' shape
as he took in your words.
"Did we win?"
You sighed.

"No, Arch."
His expression dropped in
disappointment. "But you
definitely had the winning
shot from what I saw."

Archie grinned because he knew
he hadn't failed to let you down.
But little did he know that in
your eyes, Archie could never
let you down, no matter
the situation.
