grayson sat on the couch opposite to yours, your head was in your hands as the silence grew tense with every second. you sniffled, wiping the tears that had fallen quickly. you didn't want to grayson to see you so vulnerable. "y/n, i'm sorry," he said and you shook your head.
"no you're not," you said and he frowned, he didn't like when you were like this, especially when he caused it but there was no turning back. "if you were sorry, you wouldn't have another girl waiting for you to come home," you said and he looked down, shaking his head at what he had done.
you stared at the ground, your hands now clasped together and in front of your mouth, dry tears left on your face. you looked down noticing the promise ring on our hand, scoffing as you remembered the promise grayson gave you. "y/n," grayson said softly, scared to talk to you in your fragile state.
"remember the promise you told me when you gave me this ring?" you asked playing with the ring on your finger. grayson glanced between you and the ring. "i'll never love you any less then i do now," you recited part of it.
grayson smiled, "and i still love you just as much y/n, i-"
you cut him off, finishing the rest of the promise, "no girl will be above you and i promise to be yours forever," you finished. grayson looked down, feeling ashamed of himself.
"y/n, you know i still mean that promise-"
"obviously not grayson! you put another girl above me and you're not mine forever, and you sure as hell don't love me as much as you did when you gave me this ring because if you did, you wouldn't be breaking up with me and telling me that you met someone already-" you said taking off the ring and placing it on the coffee table in front of him.
"-i'm not even mad that you're done with this relationship, i'm mad at the fact that you broke your promise to me. if you were serious about your promise, you wouldn't be breaking up with me for a girl who you just met a month ago," you said getting up. grayson watched as you walked towards the stairs, he held the ring in his hand, tears welling in his eyes as he felt he betrayed you, before you walked up the stairs you turned to get one last look at him, "and i hope you don't give her promises that you can't keep, like you did to me," you said walking up the stairs.
grayson felt the tears fall from his eyes, he didn't bother to wipe them. the last thing he wanted to do was to have you feel like he didn't care about you and feel like he betrayed you, but that's exactly how you felt and there was nothing to say that would change your mind on that feeling. grayson broke his promise to you and if there's something that's important to you, it's promises.
