Chapter 2: Taking Too Long

I left the cafe at around 12ish. I knew Desi's schedule (because she gave it to me), she would get off at around seven, so I had some time to kill. I decided to go shopping for a bit at the nearby shops. I drove my car to a nearby parking garage and parked it in the second floor. I got out and grabbed my bag and started walking to the ground floor. When I made it, my eyes were focused on a thrift shop across the street. I remembered that back in middle school, that my brother always brought me to that specific thrift shop. I never did like going there so often, nor did I ever thought it was boring to look around.
I crossed the street safely and ran towards the shop in one piece. I only spent a good half an hour or so before I left with some jewelry, two shirts, and a pair of pants. I walked out of the door and I decided to look around a little bit more before dropping off my bags in my car. Before I made it to the the third store however, my phone started to vibrate. I took it out of my pocket and looked at the caller id.
It was Desi, so I answered the call.
"Hey, what's up?"
"Um nothing, it's just, can you pick me up at eleven?"
I nearly dropped everything upon hearing this.
"Seriously?! Did you get a date or something?!"
"No! It's just I decided to work extra hours because I wanted a day off for the next couple of days, and the only way I can get that is if I work extra today."
"But isn't that closing time?"
"Yeah, exactly."
"Alright then fine, I'll pick you up at eleven, but I swear Muncy if you get out later than that..."
"It's fine mom, jeez..."
"Okay fine, bye."
"Bye."
She hung up and I put my phone back into my pocket. Knowing now that Desi will get out later than I thought, I decided to use this time to go grocery shopping. I first went to my car, put my bags in the trunk and drove out of the garage. I drove to a local store that had parking on the roof thankfully. I parked there and got out and went downstairs to the actual store. I grabbed a cart and started to walk around, grabbing a few items that I passed by. My cart was only a little full, just containing fruits, a few vegetables, snacks and ice cream. I was on my way to the cashier when I got the random idea to buy some drinks. I walked down to the aisle of alcohol and started to pick out my options. I remembered that because I was going to Natalie's house for a party, and I knew a certain someone would want to douse herself in drinks. And I guess some of the others too.
I grabbed two packs of beer, just in case one isn't enough, and a decent size bottle of vodka. Because why not.
I then finally make my way back to the cash register and paid for all of my items. I took the elevator upstairs to the parking spaces and dragged my cart to my car to unload everything. I put my cart back, somewhere, and went inside my car. I backed up from my space and drove off. I drove back to my apartment complex and parked in my reserved space. I unloaded everything and went inside the lobby.
I made it to one of the elevators and pushed a button and waited for it to come. Luckily it came down and I boarded the elevator without one of my drunkard neighbors coming up to me and saying something like, "Hey pretty la*burp* -dy do you want help with that...?"
Or
"Hey do you need any help, I'll always *hiccup* offer my services to *cough* someone like you."
Thank God. I'm alone.

I dropped off all of my bags in my apartment and on the counter. I looked at the clock just to see it's only four o'clock.
Great, seven hours to go.
In order to kill time, I put everything I bought into the places I needed them to go. Then, I forced myself to go clean up a bit.
When I finished, it was only seven. Goddammit.
I gave up on trying to kill time with stupid chores. So I hooked up my ipad to the apple tv I got for my birthday a while back, and started to watch some Youtube videos.
I got through a few videos until I went to go scroll through my phone, cuz why not.
I went through my phone a bit, until for some reason, I landed back onto the text that Nat sent me about the party.
Hey Gracie!
It's been awhile since a lot of us have met up in person. So I'm hosting a party next Monday with the others for a little reunion. I really hope that you can come!
It's most likely you'll stay over the night too, so just keep that in mind.
There was also another text below it that said,
P.S. While you're at it, can you bring some food and drinks over too? Bring enough drinks so that Aleena doesn't drink it all.
Good call me, good call.

FINALLY AFTER A FRICKING MILLENNIUM OF WAITING DESI IS FINALLY OFF OF WORK, THANK GOD. I picked up my keys and drove off to the cafe, in my pajamas. Because I knew I was literally going to crash after picking her up, I saved myself the pain and got ready for bed early. The only thing left being is sleeping.
I drove in front of the cafe and rolled down the passenger seat window, just to see Desi talking to someone.
Probably her boss or something.
After about minute or so, she walked up to the door and opened it, sitting in the passenger seat.
"Hey sorry about that, I know how much trouble you're having of not falling asleep right now, do you want me to drive?" She softly chuckled while poking my cheek.
"Nah, it's fine, just don't turn up the volume all the way up on the radio," I softly replied. And with that, we were off.
We were driving in silence, me driving and her nose dug deep into her phone probably stalking some "cute" guy's social media.
I was going to mention to her what happened to her earlier this afternoon with the run in with Gabe. But I kept my mouth shut because I bet she would ask more questions than pages of what we had to read from a slave's excerpt from middle school, and I was too tired to play 100 questions.
We finally got to the apartment complex. I parked my car in the same place it always goes to and got out off the car. We both head inside the building and went into the elevator which took us up to our floor. We walked along the hallways of our floor until we got to Desi's door first, mine was only two or three doors down. "Alright see you tomorrow Gracie, remember we're leaving to go to that party."
"Yeah I know, while you're at it, pack some clothes because Natalie will probably make us stay over for God knows how long..."
"I'll do that in the morning. Good night Gracie."
"Night." Desi then unlocked her door and went inside her apartment. I walked down to my own apartment and went inside the door. I put my keys on my kitchen counter and slipped off my shoes. I didn't even bothered to turn off any kitchen or living room lights, I just went into my dark room, plugged in my phone to its charger, and flopped on top of my bed, quickly slipping into the dream world...

I'M DONE THANK GOD.
1300+ words?! Could've just made this into two chapters.
But NO, of course I just had to write this long chapter for my "pure enjoyment".
