Chapter Two: The Present

8 1 1

It's August 10th my Hogwarts letter came no the first. I'm getting ready to go to the Weasley's with dad for mine and Ginny's birthdays, hers is on the 11th.
"Reti, we're going to be late for dinner if you don't hurry up!" I heard my dad call from the bottom of the stairs.
"Sorry dad," I yelled back. "I'll be down in a minute." I looked in my dirty full length mirror again. My long dark curly hair(a tangled mess as perusal), a white orchid headband on top of my head. I looked at my natural tan skin, my freckles, my one brown eye and a green one.
"Okay, let's try this again." I took. Deep breath and tried as hard as I could to turn the green one brown. Much to my surprise it work.
One last look at my blue shirt with white and dark blue  Hawaiian flowers on it and my jean shorts with white sandals I was running down the stairs to my dad.
"So, floo powder?" I asked my dad with a smile.
"I see it worked this time." He answered looking at my eyes.
"Yup." My smile even bigger.
"Let's go."

~August 12th~

Me and Ginny are having a shared birthday party. Dinner is what she wanted the 11th, we pick the cake we had tonight, and I get to pick dinner for tomorrow.
All the Weasley kids were visiting for the party, Charlie was here last night and Bill arrived in the morning.
"Okay, who's ready for presents?" Molly asked putting all the presents in front of us. We each had a present from Molly and Arthur. Harry, Ron, Fred, and George all got us each a gift, Bill got us each something along with Charlie and Percy. Dad and I got something for Ginny. And she got me something in a small box.
From Molly and Arthur gave me a muggle song book and a knitted hat with bunny ears on it. Bill got us both a gold coin with Cleopatra on it. Charlie got me a necklace with a light purple marble rock with dark purple specks on it. Harry, Ron, Fred, and George got me wizard candy. Percy gave me a book on the culture of Hawaii. And Ginny gave me a ankle bracelet with little pretty rocks on it.
After we were done opening everything I realized that I hadn't opened one from dad. And when I looked up to ask him he was gone.
"Thanks everyone for the gifts." I said to everyone around me.
"Arthur could you give me a hand in here?" I heard my dad say from the other room.
"Coming Remus." He replied.
Ginny was looking at my presents.
"What did your dad get you?" She asked. I shrugged. Then Arthur and dad came back in the room with a big wrapped box under my dad's arm.
"Here you go." He said placing the box on the ground in front of me. I ripped the paper off and opened the box. It was a guitar. I picked it up and put it in my lap. I strummed it a few times.
"Are you going to play something?" Ginny asked me.  I've been spending time with a muggle while dad was at work and she was teaching me how to play instruments. I'm best at guitar but I never thought I'd have one.
I started playing the notes to the only song I knew by heart. Then started singing.
White lips, pale face
Breathing in snowflakes
Burnt lungs, sour taste
Light's gone, day's end
Struggling to pay rent
Long nights, strange men
And they say
She's in the Class A Team
Stuck in her daydream
Been this way since eighteen
But lately her face seems
Slowly sinking, wasting
Crumbling like pastries
And they scream
The worst things in life come free to us
Cause we're just under the upper hand
And go mad for a couple grams
And she don't want to go outside tonight
And in a pipe she flies to the Motherland
Or sells love to another man
It's too cold outside
For angels to fly
Angels to fly
Ripped gloves, raincoat
Tried to swim and stay afloat
Dry house, wet clothes
Loose change, bank notes
Weary-eyed, dry throat
Call girl, no phone
And they say
She's in the Class A Team
Stuck in her daydream
Been this way since eighteen
But lately her face seems
Slowly sinking, wasting
Crumbling like pastries
And they scream
The worst things in life come free to us
Cause we're just under the upper hand
And go mad for a couple grams
And she don't want to go outside tonight
And in a pipe she flies to the Motherland
Or sells love to another man
It's too cold outside
For angels to fly
An angel will die
Covered in white
Closed eye
And hoping for a better life
This time, we'll fade out tonight
Straight down the line
And they say
She's in the Class A Team
Stuck in her daydream
Been this way since eighteen
But lately her face seems
Slowly sinking, wasting
Crumbling like pastries
They scream
The worst things in life come free to us
And we're all under the upper hand
Go mad for a couple grams
And we don't want to go outside tonight
And in a pipe we fly to the Motherland
Or sell love to another man
It's too cold outside
For angels to fly
Angels to fly
To fly, fly
For angels to fly, to fly, to fly
For angels to die
I finished strumming and opened my eyes and everyone started clapping.
