“Um... why?” I asked scratching my head.

“Because you need a better breathing environment. Wyoming is ranked first for least air pollution,” dad replied.

“Daaaad... I can breathe fine in Oregon!” I whined, slapping my hands on my knees.

“Well, we’re not moving right now anyways. I was planning on moving after you two finish this school year. But if you want to move early, we could leave anytime.”

“This is perfectly okay with me...just so you guys know,” Abby added.

I groaned. I stood up and left to my room. I know it was extremely rude to just leave like that, and I’m sure dad is going to give me a lecture later, but I didn’t care.

I didn’t pick to stay with dad for now reason. I didn’t want to move away from Oregon. I had so many reasons, I could write a twenty page essay on it!

For example... for example...I don’t know...

I don’t really have any reasons.

Derek? He doesn’t even love me anymore...

School? There’s no special teacher or anyone like that...

Friends? I wish I had some...

I didn’t have any reasons to stay here in Oregon. Moving to Wyoming would benefit on my health as well. I could get a new start; keep my sexual orientation a secret. Then, I won’t be hated, and I probably won’t be bullied as much.

I sighed and sat on my bed. I miss you, Derek.

Without thinking, I pulled out my phone and called Derek.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Derek...”

“Oh hey, Andy... you feeling better now? You were... pretty torn up today at school.”

“Yeah, I’m fine. I... I want to thank you.”

“It’s nothing. I’m your... boyfriend after all. I’m supposed to protect you.” I scoffed silently.

“Yeah...thanks anyways...um do you have time to talk? I mean, like, at the park?”

“Um...well... actually, I can’t go there now...I’m rather busy.”

“Oh, I see. This is really important though...it’s rather urgent.”

“Can’t you tell me over the phone?”

“I’d rather tell you face to face.”

“Nawh, I really can’t sorry.”

“It’s fine then. Goodbye.” I hung up without waiting for another reply.
