Haven sat in her dad's office as they spoke about how the latest inmate was doing, granted it had been a week, but she strangely had a soft spot for him

"So how's Ambrose doing?" He asked her

She chewed on the gum in her mouth and contemplated

"There's something about him." She said

Hunter looked up

"What'dya mean? Like, he's hiding something?" He asked watching his eldest daughter closely

"Not hiding something, but I believe he isn't telling me everything," she said smacking her gum

"You have the official folder?" She asked, training her eyes on him, he nodded and dug in his drawer, pulling it out and sending it her way

She opened it and sighed

This folder would have more details than her folder and would have things nobody else needed to know besides the commissioner, her dad

Her eyes scanned it and she furrowed her eyebrows

Family: Mother, Sister, Father.

Mother: Dianna Ambrose (Dead)
Sister: Deena Ambrose (Dead)
Father: Daniel Ambrose

She looked at the folder and then back to her dad

"How were these people killed?" She asked him

"Gunshot wounds to the stomach and head, respectively," he replied watching as the gears turned in his daughter's head

"So if Dean's telling us the truth, where was Daniel Ambrose in all of this?" She asked raising an eyebrow

Hunter had an "aha" moment, picking up on what his daughter was saying

"What're you thinking?" He asked

"I'm thinking, I gotta have another questioning." She said in a huff before she stood up and walked out, she ruffled a hand through her hair and walked to her desk, picking up her case diary and a pen and making her way to his cell

"Dean," she called, he stood up and smiled at her

"Hey sunshine," he grinned

He had been calling her that since he'd gotten here

She hit him a brief smile before she informed him of his needed presence in the questioning room

When they'd gotten to the questioning room, he took a seat opposite her and looked at her

"What's this all about sunshine?" He asked now folding his arms across his broad chest

She looked at him

"Just a few questions." She said nonchalantly, he gave her a look that showed he was suspicious but he went along with it

"So going back to that night," she paused to monitor his reaction, was not in vain as he shifted uncomfortably

"You okay?" She asked carefully, twirling her pen in her hand

"Huh?" He asked as he snapped out of whatever was in his mind at the moment

"Oh, yeah, yeah sunshine, I'm fine," he replied, maintaining his cool composure

She raised her eyebrows but didn't say anything

"Going back to that night, where was your father Dean?" She asked him, watching as he froze up

"Uhhhhh-" he stretched

"Answer the question," she said

"He was-he um, was," he didn't get to finish his sentence as he began shaking and fidgeting, she instantly ran to his side

"Dean," she questioned, shaking his shoulder to no avail

She wrapped her arms around him and slowly, he began calming down

"It's all gonna be okay babe," she let the term of endearment slipped out as he sobbed against her neck in the corner of the room, while she petted his hair and whispered sweet, soothing thoughts to him half heartedly because the next half was screaming at her

Something Wasn't Adding Up

She missed the two smiling faces that were watching them fondly from the one way glass
