Hermione's POV

I awoke in a cold sweat. It was always the same nightmare of death, despair, and horror. It was almost as if I was a prisoner to my own brain every time I closed my eyes. At least when I was awake it wasn't quite as bad because I was able to keep busy with other things.

I went downstairs to get a glass of water and also to check on Harry and Draco as I suspected they were still out cold. When I got back up to my room I could see something glimmering out of the corner of my eyes. My time turner was glowing a bright golden yellow color. 'It has definitely never done that before.' I sat my glass down and picked up my time turner examining it when it began spinning backwards on its own. 'Oh dear this can't be good.' I felt my head spinning until I saw him sleeping before me.

He couldn't have been more than twenty-six years old. Severus Snape was sleeping in my bed. Well no not my bed now. 'Good Job Hermione you went back in time and are now technically breaking and entering a dark wizard's lair.' He sighed and I cast an invisibility charm on myself afraid I was going to be caught. Luckily I was able to apparate out of the house to Hogsmeade where I could walk to Hogwarts. If Severus was alive and this young then Harry wasn't even at school yet he would be a lonely six year old. I walked directly up to the gates and made use of my Legilimens Harry had taught me. It appeared that Dumbledore was indeed alive and well. I changed my attire to robes and a nice black dress underneath. As I was about to figure out how to call Professor Dumbledore I heard the sexiest most velvety voice I have ever heard in my life.

"May I help you with something, Miss...?" I turned around and sure enough Severus Snape was really standing there and he had just addressed me in the nicest way. I cleared my throat standing up straight.

"My name is Hermione Granger, sir." I began to turn red and hoped he couldn't see in the dim light of the morning. I began turning redder as I realized he was waiting for a reply to his question of help.

"I was hoping to meet with Professor Dumbledore as it is very urgent I speak with him." Snape raised an eyebrow and slowly moved past me.

"You can accompany me to his office, if you would like to that is?" Snape looked off into the distance. Poor guy, he probably thinks I don't want to be within five feet of him. I smiled up at him and offered him my arm. He blanched for a second before taking it. On the outside I remained calm but on the inside I was gushing and thinking so many things I shouldn't have been about my lovely Potions Professor. I suggested to him that we take a shortcut that I knew from when I went to school here and he agreed but he seemed confused about something. 'Oh Hermione you dunderhead if he's about the same age as you now he would have been at school when you were.' I mentally smacked myself for that but at least we got to Professor Dumbledore's office a lot quicker.

Snape remained silent until he said the password for the gargoyle to move in front of Dumbledore's office. Before we entered he looked me up and down more closely in the light. No doubt I was a wreck. Snape kept his face blank. I guess he must have always hid his emotions. As we entered Dumbledore's office I stood by the door so Snape could get the Headmaster. I studied his office; it had never changed over the years other than when Snape was Headmaster for a short while. I grew grim and wished I hadn't thought of that because my dream from last night came back to me in full force.

Severus's POV

I arrived at the school early this morning to find a strange young woman peering at the school with an intense gaze. Wait a minute is she using Legilimens? I stood still as possible watching her for a few more minutes from a distance so she wouldn't see me. She was quite a beautiful young witch with a rare sort of natural beauty. Her bushy brown locks blew in the morning breeze. I found myself going up to her and asking her if I could help her. 'Good job Severus, you sound like some dunderhead sap.' She appeared sort of flabbergasted that I had even asked if she needed help. I was extremely taken aback when she smiled at me and offered her arm to me. This witch actually did not care if I touched her. Most people avoided me. She had an odd name too...what sort of a name was Hermione Granger?
