20.

The eyes fly open and Nathan hopes with every fibre in the body that he's returned to his rightful cave but alas, he feels two protruding breasts on the chest. Sighing heavily, he rolls over and checks Blessing's phone and finds that it's in the middle of the night and that's when he begins to panic. Not only is he frightened of the mysterious shadows that seem to be lurking and appearing more frequently, but he's afraid that if he closes the eyes that he will be transported back to the horrific incident of last week with those boys. Lana had promised to take him to student support because he wasn't supposedly "coping" well,

"This isn't even my fucking body," he mumbled under the breath as he sat around the dinner table whilst everyone divulged their growing concern for his well-being. He knew his well-being would be resolved as soon as he returned to his humble abode, whenever that was. Paralysed by fear in bed, Nathan tries to slow down and control his breathing but a loud thud outside frightens him and he holds the breath, glowering into the black abyss. Blessing's phone lights up and begins vibrating which nearly sends him into shock and he feels a couple of tears trickle down the face. Angry, ashamed and humiliated that he's been made to feel so terrified of his own being, Nathan kicks back the covers and jumps out of bed, slamming the light on. Angrily, he wipes the tears from the face before answering the phone furiously,

"You nearly fucking killed me Blessing! Who the hell calls at this stupid time?" Nathan whispers angrily, his whole demeanour tense,

"Killed you? Boy calm down, it's only 2am," Blessing explains rolling the eyes, wondering why Nathan is behaving so irate, "wait, have you seen those spooky shadows again? Is that why you're sound so scared?" Blessing asks raising an eyebrow. Growling, Nathan clenches and unclenches the fist as he paces up and down Blessing's room. When he fails to answer, Blessing believes it implies that she can continue speaking and she does so carefully and nervously.

Nathan's friends read the letter and gazed pitifully at her and explained that there wasn't much to worry about. That he should contact his family and explain what is before him and hopefully they'll provide the right support and guidance. Blessing nodded the head concerned and crest-fallen but she rolled the eyes when their backs were turned knowing full well there was no way she could speak to Nathan's family. Nathan doesn't believe what Blessing is explaining but the more she repeats her story, the more realistic it sounds. The heart inside the chest is thundering hard and loud and Nathan can hear the blood rushing in the ears,

"Show me the letter," he simply states and down the phone he can hear himself breathing and panting. Anxiously, he awaits the knock on the door and he yanks the door open and invites Blessing into the apartment and into her room. Dropping the phone on the floor, Nathan snatches the letter out of his own hands and scans it quickly, disbelief choking the air in the lungs,

"Thanks for dropping my phone on the floor and you're welcome for the letter!" Blessing says irate as she picks up her phone of the floor and dusts it off. Nathan has stopped listening and sits on the edge of the bed suddenly, feeling sick and dizzy. Swallowing down a large bile, Nathan lets the letter flutter to the floor and he grips the edge of the bed hard and closes the eyes, willing for the world to stop spinning, "are you okay?" Blessing asks concerned as she notices her own body turn pale. She never knew black people to go so pale. As she steps forward, her small body lunges off the bed and hurtles into the toilet before vomiting down the toilet basin.

Lurching and heaving, the eyes become blurred as Nathan slumps over the toilet seat in agony. The ribs are digging into the edge of the toilet basin and he moans remembering why they are still so delicate,

"Those fucking boys," he wails, wiping the mouth with the back of the hand before accidently dropping it into the sick infused toilet water. Furrowing her brow in concern, Blessing grabs a towel from one of the shelves and begins wiping her own body clean of vomit and coaxing it to a calm silence. Tugging at her shirt, Nathan slaps her hands away,

"It's my body, I've seen it naked before!" Blessing explains as she tries once more to tug the shirt over her own head,

"Don't fucking touch me," Nathan slaps his hands away from him. He slumps against the wall and gazes up at his own beautiful face and believes his gotten as close as possible to how vulnerable and frightened girls can be. In a compromising position like this, there's nothing stopping his body from overpowering Blessing's. Even the large foreboding presence of his self doesn't feel him with glee at the moment. Crossing the legs, Blessing sits beside her own smelly, dishevelled body and looks on as Nathan closes the eyes and places the arm across the forehead,

"Why haven't you got your silk wrap on?" Blessing asks glowering at her knotted black hair,

"Silk what?" Nathan asks, the eyes still closed and the arm over the forehead,

"My silk wrap? The one I said you need to wear before you get into bed," Blessing explains through gritted teeth,

"Oh fuck that. Shit kept slipping off this hair as I tried tyeing it on and just thought I'd leave it," Nathan explains and he hears with delight as Blessing groans,

"Whatever; what are we going to do about the letter?" Blessing asks, the tone much softer and gentler. Removing the arm from the forehead, Nathan opens the eyes and gazes at his own face,

"Well obviously ring my parents. We'll put them on speaker phone tomorrow and you'll just repeat after me," Nathan explains, raising himself up the wall so he's not slouching as much. Nodding the head, Blessing narrows her eyes, uncertainty clouding her mind,

"I mean is there no other way around this? Maybe meet your parents by yourself?" Blessing suggests getting up as Nathan gets up off the floor. Removing the shirt, Nathan throws it to the side before sticking the head under the faucet and guzzling down some water,

"First of all, we're related but they're not my parents and second of course my parents need to know," Nathan explains, removing the head from under the faucet. He takes Blessing's toothbrush and places some toothpaste onto it and begins brushing the teeth tired and anxious. However, he feels that his mind is much clearer after the vomit. All of Blessing's useless feminist jargon has most likely been vomited into the toilet. He chuckles at this thought,

"You know what it doesn't even matter because you can explain everything to your parents when you see them," Blessing states with a wry smile on the face,

"Weh knaw, fause ya en ma bodae ya wetard, sho woden wok" Nathan explains with the toothbrush in his mouth. Closing the eyes, Blessing inhales and exhales stating calmly that Nathan shouldn't use words like that,

"Ya only affenend ca ya ah a wetard," Nathan continues much to Blessing dismay. Rolling her eyes, Blessing continues offering alternatives to meeting Nathan's real parents. Spitting out the toothpaste, Nathan turns around and glowers at Blessing,

"What have you done?" He asks folding the arms across the chest. Stuttering, Blessing attempts to formulate a sentence however, it remains lodged in the throat. Nathan repeats himself more vehemently and Blessing gazes into her big brown bambi eyes,

"It's a surprise," Blessing blurts out, finding herself growing hot with anxiety. Nathan again repeats himself, dropping the chin,

"Let's just say your parents are giving you a surprise visit this weekend, woah!" Blessing attempts to sound enthusiastic but falters at the end of the sentence. Throwing the arms in the air, Nathan shakes the head repeating,

"What the hell have you done?"
