Where are you From

  I am no government questionnaire.

The "question where are you from?" in our North America

is a slur with a question mark in its end.

A passive aggressive microaggression saying

I am "other"

I am not from here

I am not part of this country.

Where I am from my mouth was taught to say; Si señora, si señor.

Taught to say Psalms 4:8

Taught to say gracias a Dios

Taught to explain the accent tied to my parents tongue in double knots

Taught to speak english on this very spot

to write, rewrite and submit this poem from my lips

With the sweet mixture of my native language and english

dripping down from my fingertips.
