Chapter twenty-one
"Are you going to finish that?" Finn questions from the opposite side of the table. Millie looks up at him, her mouth stuffed with a fork full of eggs. "Does it look like i'm not going to finish this?" she answers, picking up a piece of peppered bacon from her plate.
Finn chuckles, admiring her from across the small, diner booth. He looks down at his already empty plate, wishing he had ordered more but knowing their time was limited. "I don't mean to rush you but-" Finn starts. "Yes, I know dad. I'm hurrying," Millie interrupts, wiping her greasy hands on a paper napkin.
"Dad?" Finn repeats with a raise of an eyebrow. Millie puts her fork down on her plate, creating a high pitched sound as she looks around for the waiter. "Yes, you're acting like a dad," Millie says, her eyes not focused on Finn.
Finn scrunches his forehead, "I was just reminding you that we are limited on time-" Millie interrupts him with a crooked smile. "I was kidding, don't take it too close to heart."
Finn sighs, sitting back in the plastic covered seat before Millie continues. "Sadie used to do that shit with me. Act like a parent," she adds. Finn scoffs, "Sadie? Acting like a parent?" he queries. Millie nudges her head up, knowing Finn has a point. "Not a very good parent, might I add," the both of them let out a small laugh as she finishes, still looking around for the waiter.
"See if Sadie was here, I'd have my set of parents. Like a family reunion or something," she smiles, moving her eyes towards Finns annoyed expression. "Oh give me a break," he turns around, throwing his arms on the back of the seat, in search for the waiter.
"Hey! We gotta go, so you either hurry up or we're leaving you without a tip," Finn shouts at the young boy that stands behind the counter, talking to another boy. Millie shakes her head, any other person would think of this as embarrassing or rude, but not her. The waiter comes quickly, Finn grabbing a crisp one hundred dollar bill from his pocket and slapping it in the young boy's hand.
"Keep the change," Finn tells him. The young waiter looks at him with confused eyes but decides to not question him and walks away quickly. "Where the fuck did you get that?" Millie asks. Finn runs his fingers through his hair, scooting out of the booth seat and onto his feet. "David gave me some money today. He was gonna give you some too but you took too long in shower and we didn't have enough time," Finn says, reaching his hand down to help Millie up.
She rolls her eyes, accepting Finns strong hand that helps her to her feet as she gets up from the booth. Finn smiles as he begins to brush her off, the toast crumbs and pieces of bacon that stick to her shirt, falling to the ground. She smiles at him, appreciating the small gesture that seems almost impulsive to him. Finn reaches down, his hand tangling itself with hers as they begin to walk out of the newly crowded diner.
"Let's get this over with, babe," Finn remarks with a sigh as they exit the restaurant.

One subway ride and four blocks later when the pair finally arrive at the destination David told them to meet the two men. Though Finn and Millie don't know the names of the men, they expected it to go like any other exchange David put them up too.
They stand in front of an old store, the windows boarded up and the spaces that are free of wood have newspaper plastered on the glass. Millie starts to feel a feeling she normally didn't feel on trips like this. A weak feeling but she couldn't help herself.
