Chapter 2:

MPGjr (part 1)-pg.50-52

If you have followed us for a while, you know of course what it was that started it all, the whole circus with Marcus & Martinus, who we are. It was Melodi Grand Prix Junior, MGPjr. We do not even dreamed that we would be able to win, the competition was great and it was just a fun experience to be with. And then when we won, we could not have imagined that it would become more than a little attention the following year. But it was the more. Incredibly much more! Shall we take it from the beginning?

As you read in the last chapter, we have always liked to sing and be on stage, as much as possible and as soon as we got the chance. "Can we get to sing a little?" was a typical question from us. At our school holidays, we did the same thing. Near where we lived in Thailand is a sailor church that we used to go to before. There, they arranged with little education, drawing and singing on Thursdays. It happened that they asked if anyone wanted to sing a little, and who signed up then? We sang children's songs and some songs from the children's choir. Those who worked there thought it was so funny. The story of how we were "discovered" has been told many times. It happened in 2011 and it was in many ways a coincidence. One Saturday after we had sung some in the church, they had an outdoor concert there with Nissa Nyberget who is a musician and has worked with "Julemorgen" on NRK. The managers of the Seamen's Church had contacted him and said that there were two guys who wanted to sing, maybe they could sing a bit with him? Then they asked our family if we wanted composite be on stage together with Nissa. Mom and Dad said yes, but they did not tell us in advance. We were deceived! When Saturday came sat all our family there at a table and had a nice time and listened. In the middle of the song "Knockin 'on Heavens Door", he went out into the audience, grabbed our hands and led us up on stage. We each had a microphone, Nissa freed from his

job and the challenge. First, we completed "kockin on Heavens Door", then he introduced us to the audience: "This is Marcus and Martinus" Since we started with a few songs from the children's choir Nissa really could not, but he was able to keep up with the piano as soon as he heard the melodies. He is super musical! Soon, hung the whole band with the songs we sang and it was great. After the concert Nissa thought that we had to notify us MGPjr. We had seen it on TV many times but never thought it could be something for us. Mom and Dad said, "You mean it ?!" And he answered: "Yes, this is something, absolutely."

Did you know that...

We travel to Thailand every year to mother works there a month a year.

Our very first song-pg.52-53

All this happened in November. Last day to submit something to the MGPjr was February 1st. In January, maybe three or four days before the registration period expired, I asked my father: "Would you insert something into MGPjr, or not?" We agreed that it would be fun to be with, and then he said: "Then we have to start now!" Dad picked up the paper and so we sat at the kitchen table and tried to find something to write about. Where would we start? We wrote taunts. Should we write about the summer, maybe? Or anything about football? We wanted to write about something we liked or were doing, it was very difficult. Until Martinus said: "Can not we just write about our lives? We can of course all about." Then it became easier and we tried to put together a story about how it is to be twins. We sat there and knåpade with what we wanted with the song, while dad helped us with a nödrim here and there and getting it all together. In the end, the "Two Drops of Water." We stuck to a studio in Mosjoen and made a defrost version of the song that we sent out. It was the last moment, just before the registration period expired! We were thinking of something 'cool group name, but decided it was best to just be Marcus and Martinus. That's what we are called! And it's a little easier to remember someone's real name, instead of both a group name and the members' own names.

It did not take long before we were told that we moved on to the audition. We got such a shock. Even then, we felt like we won, imagine the feeling to do an audition ?! We were pleased to have come so far only. My father came with us to Oslo, and on that trip we had our very first mobile phone! We were ten years old and sick pride. We stayed at a hotel in central Oslo and practiced lots of song before we went to the site of our audition. Dad had not come inside, which was both scary and exciting at the same time. We was just ten years old and used to be with dad everywhere!

It was very embarrassing and strange to be on an audition. It is worse to sing for ten people over 60 000. But it was fun, too. We tried to joke a little. Marcus said: "We sing all the time in school, too, but it tells the teachers that we must put off with." Then everyone started laughing. A little hard was it to Martinus forgot bit of text in the middle. Then Marcus stopped singing in the middle of the song and just: "Martinus Why barred you ?!" Then we continued. It made the really nothing. But at the same time, we felt a little "Shit, what now?" We had finally come to the audition and we could the text sooo good, and so we forget when it really counts. On Noo ... Actually, everything felt good, but there and then we thought that now everything is over.
