Sophie's POV

I can't believe what I just did. I just stood in front of Luke while looking like a total creep. He probably never wants to talk to me again. I mean, I wouldn't blame him. I just fucked everything up, whatever 'everything' was.

After I took a few laps I decided to head to the showers. I've had a long day. I grabbed my crap out of my sports bag and headed to the locker room. Gladly, it was empty, which was weird, but I think all the other girls left like an hour ago. I go to the first shower stall and turn on the water. I usually go to the last stall just in case anyone jumps in, but seeing that there isn't anyone else here, I decide to be a little bit different.

The drops of water were steaming hot; it would have burned my skin if I hadn't been in the cold chlorine pool all day. I washed my long brown hair, it was soft, which was also one thing that I liked about my hair even though I should have split ends and dry scalp since I spend so much time in the water. I hummed along to one of my favorite songs at the moment, Happy by Pharrell.

After I was done, I threw on a yellow tanked top and a pair of light washed denim shorts. I also grab my phone out of my bag; I haven't checked it since this morning. I have one text message from Mia, saying that The Circle, our little group, is meeting at her house tonight.

I quickly grab all my stuff and throw on some flip flops. I hurried because I honestly did not want another awkward encounter with Luke. I've embarrassed myself enough for the day.

As soon as I get out of the swimming complex, I jump on my bicycle and go to Mia's development. Man, I was lucky she lived right around the corner, saved me my energy and time.

I know I'm near her house because I see Jane's black car in Mia's drive way. I jump off my bicycle and drag it all the way to her front door before parking it next to the wall.

I don't even bother knocking because I know everyone; her house is like my second home.

"Hello?" I scream out when I go inside.

"Upstairs!" I hear what I think is Jane's voice.

I rush upstairs into Mia's all pink room; I will always pick on her for her lack of modernizing her room.

"Ah," Emma pauses, "the last part of The Circle has arrived." She says.

"So, what's up?" I ask sitting down on the sofa.

"Well, I'm helping Emma think of ways to kill Will and get away with it and Jane is sitting in the corner chatting with Nate, as always." Mia says causing Jane to roll her eyes.

"Hey! You do the same when you like a boy so I wouldn't be talking if I were you!" Jane says defending her love-struck self. "And, by the way, Nate wanted to bring some friends over to hang, but, since you guy's are complaining, I'll just tell him no." Jane says smirking.

"No!" Emma and Mia say in unison.

"That's what I thought." Jane slyly replied. "They'll be here in ten minutes." She says.

"Ugh, I have to fix my hair!" Mia says.

"Me too, do you have lipstick?" asked Emma.

"I don't understand why you guys even like the guys in our class, they are so overrated and boring!" I say.

"Well, sorry, not all of us have a really hot older guy that we're into." Emma says as she glossed her lips.

"Speaking of Mr. McHotty, how was it today?" Mia asks.

"Great." I say not wanting to share my embarrassing day with my friends.

"You don't sound so sure." Jane says jokingly.

"Well I am." I reply quickly. They were probably getting suspicious.

"Speaking of boys who are head over heels, Sophie, when are you going to tell Jake that you don't like him back?" Mia asks taking the lipstick from Emma. Phew, I'm glad they changed the subject.

"One guy at a time, please." I say sighing. I honestly did need to get things cleared up with Jake. "He's nice and all but I rather be with Luke. I feel like such a bitch but, he isn't really my type." I say.

"What is your type?"

"Older." Jane says laughing. I throw the pillow across the room at her.

"You're only mad because you know it's true!" Emma says.

"Hey, do you want your lipstick ruined?" I ask threatening her.

"I surrender!" She says laughing.

Before we could say anything, the music that was once pumping through the stereo goes out. The only thing we heard was a white noise. Seconds, after the lights went out and it was pitch black.
