(Part 1)
Edvin picked up a small bag that he had placed outside on the porch, the sword safely tied to the gray woven bag, he stepped back into the rainy forest, her brokenhearted face still fresh in his mind, flashing deep in his mind with every heartbeat, rain drops grilled down his face, a pain so pure, that it would drunken the sense of senses. Edvin's shoulders clashing between trees and branches, dragging his feet through the mud exploding in anguish. Vomiting in Madness contained by the lonely forest, he then sat leaning against a tree socked in his own dying will to live, until his hair was pulled up from facing the ground by the teeth of a wild mustang, the Mustang gently knocked Edvin four head, pulling him out of his madness. Edvin calmed as they both held their heads together, in that moment of intimacy, he realized it was the same Mustang, the same horse that almost killed him as a young boy, the same beast that's been beating away at him for months, the violent animal that refused to be mastered. The horse then moved back and turned its body away from him, and waited. Edvin stood up and watched the horse, as it stood waiting. Edvin understood but unsure, so he slowly stepped forward beside the horse, still waiting, calmly. Edvin slowly dragged his hands over the back of the horse, before stepping on a nearby branch to get over and onto the horse, when he was on top of the Mustang he paused for a moment, watched to see how the Mustang would respond, as it stood still waiting calmly. The Mustang then slowly stepped forward besides Edvin's bag and waited, Edvin slowly reached down and grabbed his bag, wrapped it around his shoulders, gently held on the black Mustang's hair and slowly led the horse forward.
Riding east through the forest and out to the windy grass lands, down through the river trenches. Nights covered by stick shelters and dead rabbits over lit fire site's, from wet lands to mountain views, to weeks in crystal caves passing through towns, between locals located in the middle of nowhere... Then during the mid-hours of the day, he came across a distant traveling cavalry, as an army was traveling east, Edvin stopped in front of the leading army trucks, halting the march. A middle-aged militant stepped out of the leading truck, in he's green cargo pants and black boots, wearing a black tank top with a slightly rugged beard, stepped forward towards Edvin sitting on top of a black mastered Mustang "Sir are you lost?" He said speaking in a country accent "Can we help you with something?" I'm General Mahanny Connor and I'm gone need you to step your horse a side, because you're obstructing the cavalry from moving forward" "Forgive me General Mahanny, this was the only way I could think of getting your attention, I'm here to be recruited sir" General Mahanny replied and said "All recruits that wish to serve in the army should approach the army base directly" Edvin replied and said "I know, but I'm here to join your team especially General, just being recruited through the base wouldn't guarantee me that opportunity General" General Mahanny was surprised and had a slight grin on his face and asked "What is your name son?"
"General My name is Edvin" He said "You see all these trucks behind me" Said the General "There are 20 in total carrying 60 trained soldiers each, all from the camp down west, all of these soldiers were just recruits less than 2 months ago, some 6 months and some even for a few years, but none of these men can handle the hell my team goes through" General Mahanny began to walk away returning to the truck and said "We're driving out to an army base out east, it's about one day's drive from here, if you're interested in joining the war, you can follow us out back, I assume you and that animal will handle the distance because we will not be making any more pit stops" General Mahanny walked back to the following trucks as he stepped back into the passenger seat, he then signaled everybody else to resume course, Edvin slowly followed beside the trucks before matching the trucks speed out in the middle, as he watched the hundreds of men, sitting out the back of the trucks, young men holding assault rifles held close to their chests, heads leaned back some forward, a few soldier's asleep, others playing card games to the night fall.
Edvin had fallen asleep till dawn, while still hanging on top of the horse, until he was woken up by buses, filled with hundreds of new recruits by the army base camp gate, all being told to rush out the bus in single file, General Mahanny was standing and waiting ahead as he watched the truck pass, as they entered the army camp, Edvin moved closer towards General Mahanny, once he got in 5 yards of him Edvin climbed of the horse and landed on the dirt road, grabbed his bag as general Mahanny Instructed "Fall in line with the rest of the new recruits Private" Edvin held the Mustang's head to his forehead as he stroked its black thick skin, then whispered "Alright... stay close" Before the Mustang ran off into the forest.
"You didn't have to lose your horse son, we could have gotten it placed out back for you until someone you know came and took it back for you" Edvin then replied.
"Nah, he doesn't play well with others, his better off out there, don't concern yourself to much General, will be seeing him again soon"
General Mahanny replied and said "Alright son, if you say so" Then as Edvin was walking off he quickly turned around and asked "General Mahanny one last request, would you please keep hold of my sword for these coming weeks, I know they won't let me carry it around during basic training, Until I get it back from you later?"
-"I don't think you gone be needing that any time ever, this is the army son, here we try not to bring knifes to gun fights" Said the General.
-"I'm asking General... You can just place it in your office, on top of the black cabinet next to the clock, right by the other pictures near the window, you'll forget it's even there" Said Edvin.
Then on a loud speaker they heard" All new recruits need to be lined up by the reception now!" Edvin then quickly handed General Mahanny the sword cased in the black scabbard, before running of to join the rest of the recruits. General Mahanny paused for a few moments, looked at the sword and called Lieutenant Jacobs, as he was watching the gates close after the last truck went through "Have you seen this young man before?" He pointed at Edvin as he was walking in line, seeing him through the glass walls and windows, then General Mahanny continued saying "Has he ever been here or been in my office when I was not around before today?" Lieutenant then paused and thought for a moment and then replied "Impossible General, you were transferred here only four days ago, and you were only assigned an office the following day, and the table and cabinet you wanted transferred from your old office, arrived yesterday morning at zero six hundred, we placed everything were you wanted "...General Mahanny then replied and said "Where did you place my black cabinet?" Lieutenant then said "By the window like you asked General, you can even check the surveillance recordings yourself, in the last 48 hours this recruit has never stepped foot anywhere near the base camp General, let alone your office I remind you which is right across my own" General Mahanny then replied" Alright Lieutenant, that would be all" General Mahanny then walked out back of the main building, avoiding the front entrance, which was now lettered with new recruits and yelling Drill Sergeants, he opened the door to his office, walked in and placed his bag on top of the main office table, opened his bag and pulled out five framed photos, he then walked towards the black cabinet which was placed in the right side of his office, he then paused and thought to himself "How could he have guessed I would put these photos here? I'm only now just putting them up, it's too much of a lucky guess" Then the General resumed and laid three ground photos on the black cabinet, then hung up the other two frames pictures up from there on to the wall, right next to the window, then he just stood looking out the window hearing...
"You will refer to me as Drill Sergeant, not Drill Sergeant Sir, not sir Drill Sergeant not even sir, you understand me?" Echoes of "Yes drill Sergeant!" Replied by the new recruits, being yelled at, 6 rooms down the hall way, a beautiful sunrise ruined by chaos...
