I let out a sigh as my feet touched the ground and breathed in the humid airport air.

I was home again, home sweet home.

After getting released from the hospital, I went back to Richard's house to get my things and have lunch with him one last time. Trevor was nowhere to be seen, granted the fact that I would probably backflip kick him in the neck if I ever saw him again. I promised Richard that I would email and call him to keep in touch, but we both agreed that I would be staying with Mother.

As Mother's car pulled up in the parking lot of the airport, I felt a buzz in my pocket. I took it out and scanned the screen.

Ry: Where r u?

Me: South America

Ry: Nooo, the longer ur away, the longer I can't love you :(

Me: Sucks for you ;)

"Brookie? Can you hear me?", Mother's voice got my attention.

"Huh?"

"Get in quickly, daydreamer. It's going to start pouring soon."

I climbed in and shut the door behind me with a slam. I was doing too much thinking on the plane, all I wanted to do now was go home and sleep in my own bed.

When we managed to get home through the plummeting rain, I flopped down on the couch instead. What? A girl can't gorge junk food and watch chick flicks after a traumatizing experience?

I flipped on the television and a news broadcast was just starting to air. I ripped open the bag of sour cream and onion chips in my hand and popped one in my mouth.

'This just live, less than an hour ago, there was a terrible accident on highway 43. There seems to be 4 cars involved in the mess, with 6 people. 2 dead, 4 injured. One of the dead appears to be a teenage boy and the other a middle aged woman.', the newswoman stated.

The camera that was filming from the helicopter zoomed in onto the gruesome scene.

'From a look at the teen boy's hand, we see his phone and his I.D When we check out his I.D, we can see that this was a student of Merrifield High. Remember kids, texting and driving do not go well together.', she reported after glancing at a card.

A fellow classmate in a car crash? Yikes, I wonder who it is. Everyone will be talking about it on Monday.

'His name: Ryland Walker'

My heart skipped a beat. The woman's lips kept moving but I couldn't hear anything else she was saying. There was a ringing in my ears, a painful ringing. Then there was pain in my chest, a sudden throbbing impulse.

The room was beginning to spin and I desperately reached out for the couch's arm.

All I could think was...

APRIL FOOLS!
