Carter remembered a song by T.I., The Way We Ride. It was stuck in her head.

Swinging through with something new, top down, riding clean
Swinging through with something new, top down, riding clean
Top down, riding clean,
Top down, riding clean
Swinging through, swinging through (In my city that's the way we ride)
Top down, riding clean

Carter gave Slivko a break at the wheel, steering the boat. Conrad and Weaver stood on either side of her as Marlow stood up front, staring excitedly at what was ahead.

"I have a wife, had a wife, have a wife? I guess I don't know anymore," he mumbled almost sadly.

Carter,Conrad, and Weaver all looked up at him with compassion.

"Got hitched right before I deployed," he explained, triggering some of Carter and Conrad's few happy memories

"Got a letter from her the day before I got shot down, said she'd just had our baby boy," he added, receiving genuine smiles from everyone. "I have a son out there," he said, looking off into the near distance as if his son were within his line of sight. "A grown man I've never met."
"He definitely thinks you're dead, man," Slivko murmured infuriatingly from up above.
"Hey," Conrad warned as he and Carter both hit the roof, which was definitely felt by Slivko.
"Shut up," Carter hissed warningly.

  "I'm just saying," Slivko muttered

"I'm just saying," Slivko muttered.
"You don't know that," Conrad assured Marlow. "You'd be surprised how long people wait."
"Exactly. My father waited hopefully for years for my mother to join him in prison," Carter added, trying to be helpful.
