I saw my handgun on the window on the ground and immediately grabbed it but not before one of the minors broke through and fell on me. I jabbed my knife repeatedly into its neck and kicked it out. I started to climb out and fire at the Grimm. I hadn't taken notice to a minor which had snuck up on me. I was rather lucky that Bishop fired his rifle at the tiny beast, then again I have to watch my back even when fighting these adorable things. Pawn was knocked out with a superficial head wound on his forehead. I grabbed my assault rifle and swung it hitting the stock against the Ursa Majors head. I fired my handgun at the remaining minors as they retreated back into the foliage. I went back over to Bishop who had dragged out the packages as well as Knight and Pawn.
"The radio is busted no use calling for help," he sighed.
"Can't we use our abilities to flip it back over," I said.
"Sure I mean go ahead boss," Bishop nodded. He wrapped a compression bandage around Pawns head. I stood four feet away from the side flipped vehicle and began to telekinetic-ally pull it upright. The Humvee wasn't that badly damaged except for the driver side window and the broken radio.
"Alright Bishop you have the main gun set them in the back," I said opening the Humvee trunk. I helped lift Knight into the trunk as well as Pawn. I closed and secured the trunk and got back into the drivers seat. I closed the door and started the Humvee back up as Bishop loaded a new ammunition canister into the machine gun. He hit the top of the Humvee making a thud noise giving me the signal to start driving again. I was driving with the headlights, and was going fifty or so the speedometer read anyway. I had my handgun on the dashboard and my assault rifle on the seat next to me. I had my Night Vision goggles on and kept looking around for any sign of activity. I spotted what appeared to be a checkpoint but the only trouble was... we never were told of any if at all if there were going to be checkpoints. Bishop cocked the machine gun and took aim. I took off the goggles since they had a floodlight and looked at their uniforms. The color scheme was nothing like the cadets uniforms nor the Specialists.
"Step out of the vehicle now and hand over the package," a man said. I had been wearing the goggles for to long I couldn't see his face since the fog light was directly behind him.
"On whose authority," Bishop asked aiming the gun at him. I heard the sound of automatic rifles clicking and I sweated a little.
"I won't ask you again step out of the vehicle," he warned. I then floored it running over several of the armed mercenaries. Bishop swung the turret around and fired bursts at the pursuing vehicles which were trailing behind us. I saw a motorcycle drive on either side of us to close for Bishop to take aim so I grabbed my handgun and fired at the guy trying to get in on my door pointblank into his helmet visor. A red mist was sent in all directions covering my gun in it's crimson red I then turned to face the other boarder and punched him firing another round into him and as quickly as he boarded his limp body fell out as I turned my attention back to driving. I swerved the steering wheel seeing a kid in front of us Bishop had fired his current canister of ammunition and resorted to using his handgun to fire at the vehicles behind us. I saw a grenade launcher and a shell for it. I hastily loaded it and handed it to Bishop.
"Burn those mother fuckers," I yelled as I handed the launcher to him. He took aim at the lead pick up and fired it into the cabin instantaneously killing whoever was inside. The vehicles stopped and they got out trying to put out the fire. I glanced at my rear view mirror and could of swore I saw the same man get out of the fire. I saw a town up ahead and slowly stopped in front of a dust refueling station. Bishop used this moment of respite to re arm the machine gun while I reloaded my handgun. Bishop opened the Trunk and Pawn was wide awake.
"Nice to see you're awake sleeping beauty now pick up your weapon and get set," Bishop said grabbing a ceramic plate for his armor. He slid it into his armor and secured his helmet. I started to fill up the dust tank and looked around not seeing anything.
"I'm honestly skeptical about this place," Pawn said sending up his drone.
"Then run a thermal read out," I said. My EUD (Eye unit display) showed me what the drone saw, my eye piece was on my left eye I went up to a door and knocked on it. I saw movement and had my handgun at the ready. I kicked the door in and went in with my flashlight on. "Come out." I saw a frail figure, well two a woman and a child. I lowered my guard and holstered my hand gun.
"S-Stay away," she stuttered placing herself in front of her child. I looked at her and took off my helmet.
"Ma'am I'm with Atlas now please tell me what happened here and where is everyone," I asked trying to calm her down.
"T-They took them," she said on the verge of tears.
"Who took them White Fang," I asked. She nodded and I saw the tears flow out of her eyes. I kept a sigh in and handed her my handkerchief. "Come on my team and I will get you two to Mistral maybe you can get a new start?"
"N-No I had enough of the Atlesians trying to help us," she screamed. I froze a little.
"W-What do you mean," I asked rather nervously.
"You're military did this to us," she cried out. I was wide eyed she had to be lying right I mean, sure Atlas was capable of wiping out entire villages if they wanted to but why here?!
"Did they have this patch," I asked showing her my Specialist shoulder patch. She looked and backed away and grabbed a kitchen knife.
"S-Stay back y-you've come to finish us off didn't you," She screamed. She was about to lunge at me and then Bishop entered.
"Boss the tanks filled," he said. He saw her and drew his side arm and aimed his hand gun at her. I looked at her then at the kid.
"Please put down the knife and come with us," I said holding my hand out. The little girl who I had assumed was her child tugged at her worn shirt. She dropped the blade reluctantly and took my hand.
"A-Alright," she said weakly. I walked her out with the little one in tow. Bishop followed behind us.
"Boss who's she," Pawn asked. He had his UMP in his hand.
"A survivor, do we have any rations to spare," I asked.
"Yeah in the back," he replied. I led her to the back and opened the trunk for her to get the MRE's.
"Feel free to take as much as you like," I said maintaining my "emotionless" demeanor. She had a sad but happy expression. I walked past her and felt a small hand tug on my hand. I looked down and saw the little one.
"Oi mister what's your name," she asked.
"Just call me Rook alright kid," I said ruffling her hair a little. I let a small smile escape me and I went to go talk to Bishop.
"Boss Pawn found something while his drone was looking around... it's not pretty," Bishop said.
