M I A

Niall picked me up from my room a few minutes ago. We walked together with our arms locked into the dining room. The table was lit with candles and had a bouquet of flowers on the table.

We made small talk while we waited for our food to arrive.

I wasn't very focused on Niall. I was very nervous about this evening but it somehow disappeared. The only thing on my mind right now was Harry and what he had said earlier.

I couldn't get Harry's words out of my mind. What did he mean by I deserved someone better?

He has no idea what Niall is like.

Well, I have to admit I don't know either but from what I've seen he looks like he's a pretty good guy. Minus this morning when he saw me with Harry.

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I hadn't noticed that Niall had asked me a question.

"I'm sorry, did you say something?" I say shaking my head lightly and giving him an awkward smile.

"You seem a bit off today Princess. Is everything alright?" He asks leaning forward in his seat placing his hand over mine on the table.

I hesitantly take his hand and give it a light squeeze. "Yeah, everything's alright. I'm just a bit tired I guess, I didn't sleep very well last night" I lied.

I'm not much of a liar but I just didn't feel like telling Niall why I'm not as lively as he is during our dinner. I really need to get the thought of what Harry said out of my head. Alright, I'll try to shift my focus onto Niall, I don't want him to feel like I don't want to be here.

"So tell me about Ireland" I say trying to start off a conversation. The food has arrived and it looks delicious. It's chicken wrapped in Parma ham stuffed with mozzarella. I thank the waiters for the food as they place it on the table in between us.

"Ireland is the same old Ireland. Nothing new really. I've lived there ever since I was a kid and I always thought I would live there forever but now that I've been to Britain I kind of like it better here. I don't know if it's just the fact that it's bigger or the fact that it's something other then Ireland"

"I should warn you before I start, I eat like a pig" Niall laughs. I cover my mouth so I won't spit out my water. "I'm not very royal when it comes to eating. I only eat like this at home with my family, not at like royal events or anything" He laughs again.

After our laughter died down Niall is the first to speak. "Your dad told me that you hadn't been outside your land, is that true?" I could see the concern on Niall's face.

"I-I haven't" I answer. I try to cover my embarrassed face by looking at the ground. Not a lot of people know what I look like because I've never been outside or been to meetings and stuff that involve the media. People know that I exist and that I live with my parents but they've never seen pictures of me. They might have seen a few pictures from when I was a baby but nothing recent.

The only people that know what I look like are people that work here and other royal people that come to have dinner or meetings here.

"So you've been in here your whole life?" Niall asked leaning forward again taking my hand in his and rubbing his thumb back and forth over the back of my hand. I slowly nod my head looking at the ground. I wasn't really expecting him to ask me about this, it's not really helping with my mood.

"I'm so sorry" Niall apologises. I think he noticed that I was feeling uncomfortable with this topic. "Do you want to talk about something else?"

"Yes please" I look up at him and give him a small smile, letting him know that I was alright.
