A/N : It's my first poem... no, scratch it, it's my first ever work of fiction. Please bear with me.

THE TEMPTATION

It's that time of the year,
When your friends are nowhere near.

Butt feels sleepy,
Being cemented on the chair for hours,
Thought of taking a break,
Yummies,here I come.

Invaded the cupboards,
Teared down the covers,
Disposed of the evidence,
Stuffed up, felt about to burst,
Decided to retreat.

Felt like the bed was calling my name,
Decided to take a break,
Sweetie, here I come.
Raided the fridge,
Heated them up,
Disposed the -
NOO!
Caught red handed by mom.

After a lecture,
On the evil effects of my yummies,
Received a bowl of fresh leaves,
Sprinkled with salt and acid.

Realisation hits,
Barely survives,
A murder attempt on tastebuds.
Won't go down without a fight,
Made mom leave,
Pretending to ingest the...leaves;
Bribed older brother,a body freak,
To polish them off,
Retreated empty handed.

Felt bored,
Need a break from the yawns.
Raided the cupboards,
Nothing deserves my stomach.
Raided the fridge,
Prepared to ingest a dead animal.
*Heeeyyy...*
Caught red handed by mom...again.

Choosing to spare a bowl of sprouts,
Decided to abort mission,
Swore never to feed on junk ,
Tried an immediate retreat.
Mission failed,
As a glass of yellow stuff
Was attached to hands.

Saturated with equations,
Decided to take a break.
Checked the halls,
Ran down the stairs,
Towards dear lab of mom;
Inhaled caffeine,
Checked for snacks ,
In the bag stuffed to the brim ,
On the island.

*a door slammed open*
Tried a quick escape,
Slipped on something,
*who the hell puts rugs on the floor*
Skipped the halls,
Slammed the door,
Retreated yet again, empty handed
But hey, the yawns are gone.

Hours passed,
Decided to retire for the day;
All the while wondering
Why the stomach feels upset.

Decided to make some ginger tea,
And maybe something to munch on.
*a screech*
Got a pair of broken ear-drums,
All thanks to dear sister of mine,
Who took me for a thief.

Short lived 'joy',
As the whole house,
And probably the whole neighbourhood was awaken.
Emergency conference at the table;
After an hour long lecture,
Even from eighty-year-old grandpa
All at an ungodly hour,
When half the world is asleep.

Promises didn't make it this time,
Opted the best way out-
To come clean...
To let the dirt out...

*I'm a food addict*
*??????*

*where the hell does everything she eats goes off to?*
Enquired dear sister of mine.

Cackled an evil laugh,
Which awoke brother dearest,
Sleeping with eyes open;
Picked sister's jaw from the floor,
Wished all a good night,
Or rather a good morning;
Skipped towards the den,
With tea on aid,
For another sleepless night
With Nerst and Meyr.

A/N :
Hope you all enjoyed reading it.

This idea came to me this evening as my mom reminded me of something funny that happened during my month long exams last year.

I get cranky during exams and tends to be real volatile that the rest of my family tip-toes around me.
Food relieves a bit of my tension😀 and so my mom(she's a working woman)makes it sure that the fridge is always stocked with a variety home-made ,healthy snacks and dishes,you know, so that I don't get down with any flu or such with all the junk I may eat from out.

So, my wonderful readers,do tell me how you cope with tension, whatever be the occasion because honestly I often feel kind of lost and hopeless when under a lot of pressure.

Thanks again for reading.

Let me know what you think of it. I'm open to constructive criticism.

🌟 I forget, please do share , vote or comment if you think it's worth a read.🌟

Hasta la vista
