Chapter eight- the witch's favor

    "I got it!" Xander yelled.

    The gang all pointed their attention to him.

     "Anya and I had found a spell when we were looking one other time... you could momentarily still multiple groups at one time except those who were inhuman (demons)."

     "what good does that do? aren't the ritual things demons?" Dawn asked.

     "No Magi is, but the members are not." Giles added.

     Xander continued, "So Buffy can slay this thing and no more nightmare comas."

     "won't that effect Buffy?" Angel asked.

     "yes...., she can't be around when this is being cast."

     "Only a demon can withstand the spell... I guess that means I'm up..." Angel said as he stood.

     Buffy stood up immediately and protested. "you have already offered, you can't!"

     "It's to save those who can't save themselves." he said as he moved past Buffy.

      Giles made a plan that Angel would be at the school as Willow casts the spell, and everyone else would stay back here.

      Angel arrived at the school and instantly heard the chanting. He followed the voices and found that Nina was laid out on a cement slab and was shackled down, as he had been not too long ago. She was conscious and wriggling, trying to get out.

        The chanting grew louder and louder as they took out the dagger. It had been the same one that Angel had taken out of his arm, it still had his blood on it.

         Just before Nina was about to be impaled, everyone was frozen. Angel attempted to hide within the shadows but was seen by the Magi. The being seemed to float toward him. It moved majestically and seemed to entice him.

         Nina screamed at Angel for his help as a woman, dressed in a white dress came visible from the darkness. She cast a type of spell on Angel so he had broken from the Magi's enchantment.

         The Magi turned to the darkness and Angel ran to Nina. He tore the shackles from her wrists and held her in his arms. Angel ran as fast as he could, with his long leather jacket flying behind him like a cape. The Magi pointed her finger at Angel and he dropped to his knees

     He told Nina to run and she didn't hesitate. She fumbled from whatever torture she had endured.

     Angel attempted to hold himself up, but Magi controlled his muscles so he was helpless. The witch in the darkness fought against the Magi and helped Angel. Buffy arrived and saw Angel's condition and went after the Magi. When she saw the slayer, the Magi disappeared, leaving behind the robe.

   Buffy ran to Angel, who was looking for the witch who has helping him. Buffy helped him up and they left immediately, taking the robe.

    When Angel arrived at his apartment, the witch was following close behind him.

     "thank you." the witch said.

     "for what? you saved my life."

     "you saved my daughter, Nina."

     Angel remained quiet as he took his keys out of his pocket and placed them in the lock.

     "my name is Callista. I want to thank you by granting you your deepest desire."

     "with all due respect Miss, even you can't give me her-that."

     "so it's a person... does she not love you?"

     "its complicated."

     "I can make it uncomplicated. Tell me your deepest desire."

    Angel was silent.

     "I will just have to guess...."

    She spoke words in Latin and then Angel awoke in his apartment. Buffy was next to him.

     He placed his hand on his chest.

     "Buffy.......I have a pulse!" Angel said as he couldn't hide his smile.
