So, a 15 year old girl's (Ellie) parents die in a car accident. She goes to live with her father's parents hundreds of miles away from her home. She gets depressed and has therapy a few times a week. She blames herself for her parents' death. She goes back to school and starts over, but no longer taking interest in socializing. She is forced to be partners with this druggie kid named Luke on a science project. They start hanging out more and become good friends. She gets him to stop doing drugs.
When Junior year arrives, she meets a girl who moves to her town from Europe (Jamie). She has an English accent and they start talking immediately. They do high school swim team and bot end up on Varsity and get lettermans. They start hanging out after school, binge Netflix and cook random dinners and lunches for Ellie's grandparents.
They start getting close to the point that one night, after the Winter Formal dance at school, Jamie spends the night. Why drunkly tired, Ellie kisses Jamie. And they don't remember it.
