I am just an average mermaid
That lives in the sea for life.
You're a mighty sailor and pirate
That often go from island to island.
-
Rumors and gossips told me
That you're a savage,
A vagabond who like to curse
With your hearts' desires.
-
Storytellers described you as
A brutally scary and frightening man
With no mercy towards
All the civilizations, above or below.
-
Even my parents warned me
Not to wander too far at night
Or I will be caught,
Never to see the ocean ever again.
-
Even though they may be true,
My beating heart remained curious,
Ignoring all of the precautions
The merfolks heap on me.
-
One fateful night,
While everyone was asleep,
I swam up
Higher than ever before.
-
But right before I gasped for air,
Everything went pitch black.
Little did my soul know that
I was knocked out.
-
Morning rises, and I found out
That I was trapped,
And this was the first time
My eyes met you.
-
You were indeed the man
I heard from all of these years.
You were exactly the seaman
That I should never have contact with.
-
Yes, you love to cuss,
And yes, you were uncouth,
But what made me surprised
Was your love for me.
-
Especially, the moment I met you,
You seemed to show the affection for me
That was never found in raiders like you.
From then on, we were in love.
-
After all, maybe they were wrong.
No matter how rude you could all be,
I still love you, and you too.
Maybe love caught us all in its net.
