Tyler sat at the lunch table with all his friends. The more he looked at his table compared to other tables, he realized what Brendon had meant. Pete stood up and waved his hand, "josh! Over here!"

Tyler turned to see josh walking over towards them. Josh sat between Debby and him. Debby leaned against him, smiling widely. Josh kissed her cheek before turning to Tyler. He smiled, "hey, Tyler."

Tyler smiled awkwardly at him, "hey."

Him and josh have never really been friends before. They only ever stole friendly glances in between classes or small hellos. Jenna, who was sitting on the other side of Tyler, leaned forward, "so, josh, are you an Debby an actual thing? Or is that a rumor?"

Debby spoke before josh could, "ya, were a thing."

Dallon raised an eyebrow, "how'd that happen?"

Josh chuckled, "uh, we were at the park and she was roller skating. She ran into me and it just kinda happened."

Jenna cooed, "awe that's so cute."

Tyler rolled his eyes at how everyone was acting. Brendon snorted, "ok, enough with this couple shit. Josh, how the hell did you get so fucking fit. Last year you were as skinny as a twig."

Pete narrowed his eyes, "are you on steroids?"

Josh shook his head with a laugh, "no, I'm not on steroids. I just started exercising more often and I play the drums now."

Dallon grinned, "that's awesome. You should really join the basketball team."

Tyler raised an eyebrow and glanced at josh. Josh shook his head, "nah, I'm not really into playing basketball. I don't mind watching it, but I'm more of a football guy."

Tyler shrugged as he took a bit of his food, "tryouts are this weekend."

Everyone turned to Tyler and Josh's eyebrows furrowed. "Huh?"

Tyler took another bite, "you said you're more of a football guy. Tryouts are this weekends, Saturday at two."

Dallon tilted his head, "how do you know?"

Tyler chuckled, "dude, not only is my dad helping coach it this year, but it's posted up in the gym."

Brendon grinned, "you should tryout, josh. Our football team isn't the best, maybe you could help with that."

Josh nodded and smiled at Tyler, "ya, I'll think about it."

The bell rang and everyone began scattering to throw their trash away. Tyler made his way down the hall and Jenna was quick to catch up. She smiled shyly, tucking a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear, "hey, Ty."

Tyler smiled at her, "hey, Jen."

Jenna glanced at the floor, "I really didn't see you all too much this summer."

Tyler nodded, "ya, I've been pretty busy. Was your summer good?"

Jenna nodded, "ya! It really was, I'm guessing you've already heard of the back to school party?"

Tyler nodded, "ya, it's next Saturday at Kiyoko's house." Hayley Kiyoko was a senior this year, one of the best at throwing parties. She was also the caption of the cheer squad.

Jenna grinned, "that's the one. Are you ready for it?"

Tyler smirked, "since when have I not been excited."

Jenna giggled, "true. Are you going with someone."

Tyler shrugged, "I planned on just going with the guys. You?"

Jenna blushed, "uh, no. I was hoping someone would ask."

Tyler was about to ask who, but then he remembered how Brendon told him Jenna had a thing for him. Tyler chuckled, "well, I'm sure someone will ask you."

Jenna cleared her throat, "uh...did you have a girl in mind?"

Tyler shook his head, "not really. I'm not really looking for a relationship."

Jenna nodded, disappointment showing on her face. She sighed, "alright, well, I'll see you later?"

Tyler smiled, "ya, see you around, Jen."

Jenna nodded and left Tyler's side. Tyler stopped at his locker, putting his books he didn't need in it. He glanced down the hall, his eyes landing on josh. He was talking to Debby and some other girl. Josh glanced at Tyler as he said something.

Tyler couldn't make out he words, but the three of them laughed. The stare was finally getting to intense for Tyler and he quickly looked away. He let out a huff and shut his locker.

¿?

Tyler swirled around the food on his plate. He watched as all of it mixed together to make a disgusted pile of glop. He rested his cheek on his hand and let out a sigh. "Honey, stop playing with your food. It's disrespectful." Tyler glanced at his mother before rolling his eyes.

Chris cleared his throat, "so, did you guys have a nice first day?"

Madison was the first to speak, "ya. I think I already left a good impression on all my teachers."

Tyler scoffed quietly. His sister has always been a teachers pet. It was her first year of middle school and she was determined to leave a good impact. Chris turned to Tyler, "what about you, Tyler? Was your day good?"

Tyler shrugged, "I guess. Nothing much happened."

Zack snorted, "I hear Josh Dun got ripped. Is that true?"

Tyler nodded, "ya. I think he might try out for football."

Chris raised an eyebrow, "the scrawny kid?"

Tyler rolled his eyes, "dad, if you see just listening, we said that he got ripped. He's not scrawny anymore. Hell, he could probably tackle the shit out of hoodie."

Kelly huffed, "Tyler, language." Tyler glanced at Kelly before turning back to Chris.

Chris shook his head, "impossible. Not only is hoodie a junior, but he's one of the best on the team."

Tyler smirked, "I fucking bet you."

Kelly scowled, "Tyler, language."

Tyler looked at his mom with wide, irritated eyes and let out a huff. Chris held up a hand, "Kelly, its fine. He's not harming anyone." Kelly shook her head and took a bite of her food.

Jay grinned, "fuck fuck fuck!" Kelly's mouth dropped open and she placed her fork down, staring at the three year old.

Chris turned to Jay, "not you, Jay, you're too young to be saying that."

Zack let out a laugh and Tyler grinned. Kelly frowned, "you boys have no manners."

Chris leaned back in his chair and smiled, "ah there boys, let them have some freedom. A few words aren't going to cause them to become low life hoods."

Tyler shrugged, "well, you never know."

They all let out a laugh as Kelly just let out a frustrated sigh.
