Last night after dinner, Ryan's new girl came over and we all just hung out in the living room. Mom seemed to actually really like the girl and so did Ryan. Maybe he has changed and Tracy actually is really important to him. Unlike all the other girls he used to bring home.
I run downstairs carefully, rushing to get the door. I open it and I'm greeted with a very big smile from Jacob. "Hey! You found me" I say cheerfully. I step aside and welcome him in.
My mom is out for work today and my brother and Sawyer were hauled up in his room, so we had the living room to ourselves. I had invited Jacob over to hang out, and it was actually nice. We turned out to have a lot in common and our parents apparently new eachother from high school.
At first I had only wanted Jacob to come over because I thought it would make Sawyer jealous, but it turns out I really like Jacob. He's not at all what I thought he would be.
We hear thumping from upstairs when Ryan and Sawyer decide to interrupt our conversation. "Hi, who's this?" Ryan asks referring to the blonde haired boy on my couch. "Ryan, this is Jacob. Jacob this is my brother Ryan".
"Nice to meet you" he stands. Jacob is about the same height as Sawyer so he's pretty tall for his age.
"You guys better not be doing anything. I've got my eye on you, Jacob" there he goes again with his overprotectiveness.
"Okay" he says quietly. I could see the intimidating look on Ryan's face and it really pissed me off. "So I'll be out, meeting with Tracy. Sawyer gonna stay here so again, don't be doing anything, okay?" he reinstates.
"Yea yea" I roll my eyes. This just makes things ten times more awkward. With it being just my brothers best friend, my new guy friend and me in the house alone. It almost kind of makes me feel bad for Sawyer though, that my brother is just leaving him all the time.
After Ryan left, Jacob and I were still just hanging out in the living room and I was laid back on the comfy couch we were sitting on.
"Wait so you never learned how to ride a bike?" Jacob laughs.
"No I didn't, I never felt the need to" I say. "And my dad never taught me".
"Well maybe I could teach you" he says. "Sure" I smile politely. I can't say I'm all for the idea of looking like an idiot in front of Jacob, but I appreciate his kind offer.
"Oh there's an eyelash on your cheek" he says. "Let me get that for you" he brings his hand up to my face and cups my cheek. He wipes the eyelash with his thumb as he stares into my eyes. I blush and slightly look away.
"What's going on here?" Sawyer interrupts out of nowhere, scaring me half to death and causing Jacob to retract his arm immediately.
"What?" I ask clutching my heart.
"Just you know, checking up on you guys" he says calmly.
"Why? We're fine" I state sounding annoyed.
"Um, could I talk to you in the kitchen for a moment? Holly?".
I roll my eyes and excuse myself. I walk into the kitchen with him and I notice he seems awfully nervous.
"What's up?" I ask smirking. Doing a little dance in my head knowing that my plan is clearly working. "I just want to make sure everything is cool" he says.
"It is, but you know with you checking up on us every five minutes it can be a little irritating". I lean against the counter.
"Well what were you guys doing?".
"Nothing" I shrug. I look at him and notice he's looking down with his hands in his pockets. It's very strange seeing him so nervous but it's kinda cute.
"Oh I see. You're jealous" I grin coming closer to him.
"No" he snorts. "I just want to make sure you know what you're doing because he was getting a little touchy with you".
"Why? It doesn't bother you does it?" I close the space between us looking up at him. I've been waiting to use that line on him ever since he used it on me. Although it's hard to sound intimidating when he's that much taller than me.
I play with the collar of his shirt. "No" he chuckles slightly. I could see his cheeks reddening slightly.
"Great" I push off of him and walk out of the kitchen. Leaving him flustered just like I planned.
I run into Jacob in the hallway to the living room. "Hey, I'm just gonna go but thank you so much for having me. I had a great time" he smiles.
"Oh, are you sure you wanna leave?" I ask.
"Yea it's fine I have some stuff to do at home" he begins to walk to the front door. I walk him out and watch as he laced his shoes up. Sawyer also watches from the kitchen doorway with almost a smug look on his face.
"So I'll see you for that bike ride lesson right?".
"Yea for sure" I say. "Oh I almost forgot!" I run upstairs to room really fast. I find the Ferrari drawing in my folder labeled 'grade 8 art' and I hurry back downstairs.
"Here" I hand him the paper panting from the running I just did. "Just like I promised"
"Thank you Holly" he says sincerely. I wave to him as he walks out of the door and down the driveway.
