When Words Fail || Aarmau

Prologue

I'm on the run. Don't ask me why or how because there's no straight answer I can give you. One day I'm enjoying life in beautiful Atlantis, the next I'm swimming for my life with my friend and guard Teony leading the way to what she says is a safe haven. When we arrive at land I think she must be crazy. The world out of water is full of other species, like elves and fairies and mermaid hating dragons. None of these things even began to compare to land sickness that occurred when a mermaid stayed above water for a week. And I couldn't hide in a city full of another species. I'd stick out like a sore thumb with my scales on my human form. The only other species that had identical markings were dragons and even crazy Teony knew that nothing could protect me from them. They held a grudge against mermaids because they believed we had killed their queen and in return, they killed my mother, Irene, the Goddess of Light. If she hadn't had me, her power would have gone to the murderous dragons and mermaid-kind could have been wiped out. Instead, I inherited her power and my father realized that if I died, he would get my mother's power and make himself the most powerful merman in the ocean once more.
Instead I'm on the run and am now hiding out in a beachside city called Phoenix Drop. Don't let the name fool you though, this is the capital city of dragons and the safest and most dangerous place for me to hide. I attend Phoenix Drop High School and am in the junior class with a few people I like to call the Rossome Team. There's Mad Max, Ross, Sky, and Barney. We're all great friends and even have a YouTube channel. I'm a mermaid princess in a city of dragons with the King of the Ocean hunting me down all while trying to be a normal teenager. Consider yourself lucky because this is my story and I'm going to share it with you. Let's dive in.

Please note: A lot of the original storyline came from another fanfic I read on here called Aphmau and her Sea~cret so all credit to the original author and Aphmau because these are her characters. Anyway, I do plan to branch out off the original fic and add my own twists. Please also note that there will be mentions of suicide and self harm so read at your own risk. In the future I will add trigger warnings and such so if you want you can skip those chapters. I will also try to do makeup chapters without those things after so that people who don't want to read about that can read the chapter without having to worry about when it will come up.
