"You are nothing but a worthless piece of flesh! Your blood is not worthy to be in my presence."

Hermione couldn't see, as the dungeon she laid in was blacker than the night sky. Some kind of enchantment to keep the prisoners from trying to escape.

She may not be able to see who was keeping her locked up, but she could hear who it was. It was that thought that ran her blood cold and for the first time she was scared.

Scared that she may not make it out alive.

---------2 days earlier---------

"Harry! Ron! Leave!"

Hermione yelled, she couldn't let them get caught.

She was right behind Harry and Ron. All three trying to reach the gates of Hogwarts so they could apperate away.

They had stolen the Sword of Gryffindor from Headmistress Umbridge.

They had snuck into Hogwarts, under a disillusionment charm. They finally reached the gargoyle that protected the stairs to Umbridge's office. They had found a way to get in without the password, a spell that could trick the wards of protection to let them in.

What they hadn't counted on was the stupid cat plates that lined the stairway. There was no way they could get upstairs and grab the sword with out Umbridge knowing.

They still had to try.

They had gotten the sword, and made it half way down the stairs when all hell broke loose.

Three Death Eaters where on their way up.

"Stupefy!"

"Expelliarmus!"

"Petrificus Totalus!"

"Crucio"

"Sectumsempra!"

"Bombarda!"

They finally reached the main floor, each one taking on an opponent. Each of them could hold their own but they needed a diversion to try and get away.

Hermione stunned the Death Eater she was fighting and screamed expulso at the walls behind the other Death Eaters.

It gave them a chance to run, as the Death Eaters cast protection spells to keep the rock wall from falling on them.

They were almost there. She could see the gates in front of them.

She heard Harry and Ron scream her name. The boys made it past the gates they could leave.

"Harry! Ron! Leave!"

She turned when she heard the apperation pop. Faced their attackers, a spell hit her from the side, and her world went dark.

She had woken up in the dungeon, someone had kicked her ribs.

"Welcome to the land of the living."

Hermione head swiveled searching for her attacker but she couldn't see anything.

"Oh I can see you, but you can't see me."

Another sharp kick to the ribs, it had Hermione gasping for breath.

"Who are you?"

"Pity, pity, girly won't play."

"Bellatrix!"

"Oh she can play the game. How fun for me."

Bellatrix sang, the sound sent shivers down her spine.

"Master summons, but I will be back to paly. Until then, here is something you can remember me by."

Before Hermione could say anything, Bellatrix's boot met her skull. Darkness once again took over her world.

"You are nothing but a worthless piece of flesh! Your blood is not worthy to be in my presence."

She may not be able to see who was keeping her locked up, but she could hear who it was. It was that thought that ran her blood cold and for the first time she was scared.

Scared that she may not make it out alive.

"My Lord."

Another voice, a voice that was music to her ears joined the one that made her blood go cold.

"Severus, what can I do for you?"

The snake like sound slithered up her spine. It caused her body to shiver, and convulse.  It felt like his voice had physically raked across her brain.

"Just wanted to join you. Watch as you cause pain to this filthy mudblood."

With the word Severus cringed on the inside. His outer shell showed no movement or emotion.

Hermione's heart fell when she heard those words out of Snape's mouth. She had been wrong. The man she held to such high regard, had cared for, had defended, was one of them.

"You are a sick soul Severus."

Voldemort chuckled as he turned back to Hermione. With a flick of his wand, the dungeon became visible to all.

Hermione looked up at the two men that stood before her. In the eyes of Voldemort she could see insanity, there was nothing left of the man that once was. She looked at Severus and she saw nothing, there was no life behind those dark eyes.

"Crucio!"

Voldemort hit her with the spell, at first she felt nothing. Then like a spark of a flame being fed by gasoline, pain engulfed her entire body.

Her scream echoed through out the dungeon, being chased by the deranged laughter of the snake like man.

The spell stopped. The pain dulled, but still festered under her skin.

"Her screams where like music. Don't you agree Severus?"

"Yes my Lord."

"I think I will keep her around. Her screams bring me joy."

With another flick of his wand the dungeon is black once more.

Hermione hears a set of footprints head upstairs. Her body still fighting the pain spell, slowly the pain causes her vision to tunnel. Words whisper across her skin.....

"I am sorry Hermione."

Darkness over takes her.

My recommendation this time is:
A Soulmate for Christmas

A sad but masterfully written short. It is a Tom/Hermione pairing. I usually don't find those two to be my cup of tea but, this was amazing.

It is written By:

I hope to read more by them soon!!
