Adrian gazed blankly at the half-opened door, posture relaxed as he leaned against the side of the railing, hands in his pockets.
It had been over an hour since the girl had run, terrified out the door. She had not come back since.
...He hated to admit that he was worried.
It was one thing for her to run off on her own, it was another thing all together for her to run off because of him. Don't get him wrong, he had no concern whatsoever for the girl, he just... Didn't want the guilt on his conscience.
Adrian frowned as he eyed the sky. It was getting dark...
"Meow."
He looked down to meet a pair of wide hazel and gold speckled eyes.
"What?"
The small kitten gazed at him unblinkingly, and he scowled at the almost questioning gaze.
"What do you want?!"
"Meow."
He rolled his eyes. 'I'm talking to a cat... If I wasn't already dead I would say that I was insane.'
"Look, would you go stare at something else? I don't have time to deal with you."
On the contrary, a mocking voice whispered in the back of his head, you have all the time in the world. He shoved the thought aside with a scowl.
The small kitten looked up at him for a few more moments before blinking large eyes at him and standing. A large stretch had the kitten arching her small body as she yawned, before, with a single flick of her tail, she trotted out the door and onto the drive way, not once looking back.
Adrian stared incredulously after her. '...What the hell?'
A nagging thought wormed its way to the front of his brain as he watched the kitten's black and white tipped tail weave back and forth.
If you don't help the girl now she could die and you'd be stuck with her... Forever.
He mentally groaned before letting out a long breath. Moving his hands out of his jeans pockets Adrian ran his fingers through his hair staring irritatedly at the woods.
"When I find that girl," he muttered lowly as he started towards the door, "I'm going to kill her."

Ugg my chapters keep getting shorter and shorter! *bangs head against wall*
Every time I try to write a longer chapter it ends up like this! *sigh*
